    Abstract: An optical connector includes a first engaging member holding at least one first optical fiber to guide light from a light source, a second engaging member holding a second optical fiber to be optically connected to the first optical fiber, and configured to be engaged with the first engaging member, and a light shield member provided near an emission end of the first optical fiber, at such a position as to shield light from the first optical fiber at disengagement of the engaging members. The light shield member is pushed by the second engaging member at engagement of the engaging members, so as to be folded and evacuated in a gap. The light shield member includes a light absorption member to absorb light and to generate heat, a thermal diffusion member to diffuse and radiate the heat, and a base supporting the light absorption member and thermal diffusion member.

The processor acquires a surface image of a surface of an observation target and an inside image of a target portion existing inside the observation target, calculates three-dimensional coordinates of the surface from the surface image, calculates three-dimensional coordinates of the target portion from the inside image, and estimates depth information indicating a depth from the surface to the target portion based on the three-dimensional coordinates of the surface and the three-dimensional coordinates of the target portion.

    Abstract: A shape sensor comprises a shape sensor main body which comprises an optical fiber capable, a detection object section, and a light detecting section to detect the detection light and which is capable of measuring a shape of a measurement target object by utilizing a change in characteristics of the light detected through the detection object section in accordance with a change in curvature of the optical fiber when the optical fiber curves; and a curving direction regulating section which is provided on at least a part of the optical fiber along an optical axis thereof and regulates a curvable direction of the optical fiber to a desired direction; wherein the curving direction regulating section is a core member which is disposed in at least a part of the shape sensor main body along the light propagating direction of the optical fiber and whose main curving direction is regulated.

    Abstract: An endoscope light source apparatus includes a first light source section that emits first light, a second light source section that emits second light, and an optical path combiner that combines an optical path of the first light and an optical path of the second light. The etendue of the first light source section is smaller than the etendue of the second light source section. The optical path combiner has an optical deflection surface that deflects the second light, and has an aperture that allows the first light to pass through it within an area of the optical deflection surface. The optical path combiner deflects the second light so that a center axis of the optical path of the second light deflected by the optical deflection surface corresponds to a center axis of the optical path of the first light that has passed through the aperture.

    Abstract: An illumination apparatus includes a first wavelength converter which absorbs part of the first excitation light and emits first wavelength-converted light, a second wavelength converter which absorbs part of the first excitation light and emits second wavelength-converted light, a reflector including a reflecting surface which is arranged to surround the members, and a holder which holds the members. A first region where light distribution angles of light emitted from the members have a predetermined value or less and a second region where the light distribution angle is less than the predetermined value are present in a region surrounded by the reflecting surface. The holder holds at least one part of the wavelength converter and at least one part of the second wavelength converter at the first region.
