摘要: System and method for supporting scalable bitmap based P_Key table in a high performance computing environment. A method can provide, at least one subnet comprising one or more switches, a plurality of host channel adapters, and a plurality of end nodes. The method can associate the plurality of end nodes with at least one of a plurality of partitions, wherein each of the plurality of partitions are associated with a P_Key value. The method can associate each of the one or more switches with a bitmap based P_Key table of a plurality of bitmap based P_Key tables. The method can associate each of the host channel adapters with a bitmap based P_Key table of the plurality of bitmap based P_Key tables.

摘要: Systems and methods for supporting inter subnet partitions in a high performance computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, a fabric manager can define a range of P_Key values, among a plurality of P_Key values, as a inter subnet partition (ISP) P_Key range. The fabric manager can communicate this defined range of P_Key values to a number of subnets, via their subnet managers. The subnet managers in each subnet retain management over their subnets. As there is no central management that configures each side of inter subnet communication, subnet managers on within participating subnets can set up ISP membership, and then exchange information with the other subnet.

摘要: Systems and methods for supporting SMP connectivity checks across virtual router in a high performance computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, SMA model enhancements allow for the possibility to send a packet (i.e., SMP) that is addressed to a local router port. The SMA where the packet is addressed can receive the packet, and then apply a new attribute that defines that the requested information is on a remote node (e.g., connected by a physical link across subnets). In accordance with an embodiment, the SMA can operate as a proxy (receives a SMP and sends another request), or the SMA can modify the original packet and send it on as an inter-subnet packet.

In general legacy systems, performance metrics, as collected by a performance management agent, can only be collected via the use of general data packets traversing a subnet. In accordance with an embodiment, by configuring a SMA attribute to comprise the same performance metrics as collected by a PMA, a subnet manager, or another management component, can access the performance metrics in-band via the use of a subnet management packet.

In accordance with an embodiment, multicast group membership can present an issue in that inter-subnet partitions can, if left unchecked, runaway with multicast group creation within any given connected subnet. This can starve address map resources at router ports. A quota can be supplied that provides a maximum number of multicast groups any given inter-subnet partition is allowed to create within any given subnet.

摘要: System and method for supporting a flexible framework for extendable SMA attributes in a high performance computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, an information attribute can provide for enhancements in a number of areas. For example, in addition to indicating which version of an interface a queried node supports, the information attribute can additionally provide a mask indicating which vendor specific SMA attributes the node supports. In this way, a subnet manager can identify a version of an interface at each node in a subnet, as well as each node's SMA attribute capabilities. In turn, this allows nodes to run different versions of an interface within a same subnet, without introducing confusion.

摘要: Systems and methods for supporting SMA level abstractions at router ports for inter-subnet exchange of management information in a high performance computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, a subnet manager in a local subnet is responsible for establishing and configuring a remote attribute a switch having a switch port configured as a router port. This remote attribute can comprise certain information about the local subnet, including connectivity information and port status information. On receiving a query from a remote subnet manager, via a SMP (or a vendor specific SMP), information contained in the remote attribute can be communicated back to the remote subnet manager.

A method can provide at attribute at each node in a subnet, wherein the attribute provides a single location at each node for a subnet manager to query the stability and availability of each link connected to the queried node. The attribute can be populated and maintained by a subnet management agent residing at the node.

摘要: Systems and methods for supporting unique multicast forwarding across multiple connected subnets in a high performance computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, by enforcing that incoming (i.e., incoming on a router port of a subnet) multicast packets have SGIDs (source global identifiers) that correspond to a restricted set of source subnet numbers when entering the ingress router ports to a local subnet, it is possible to ensure that multicast packets sent from one subnet are never returned to the same subnet through a different set of connected router ports (i.e., avoid looping multicast packets).

摘要: Systems and methods for supporting dual-port virtual router in a high performance computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, a dual port router abstraction can provide a simple way for enabling subnet-to-subnet router functionality to be defined based on a switch hardware implementation. A virtual dual-port router can logically be connected outside a corresponding switch port. This virtual dual-port router can provide an InfiniBand specification compliant view to a standard management entity, such as a Subnet Manager. In accordance with an embodiment, a dual-ported router model implies that different subnets can be connected in a way where each subnet fully controls the forwarding of packets as well as address mappings in the ingress path to the subnet.
