    摘要: A pair of connector housing may be temporarily engaged so as to facilitate efficient connection operation thereof. A lever 15 is pivotably attached to a side wall of the male connector housing 11. When a female connector housing 12 is inserted into the male connector housing 11, a cam receiving protrusion 17 of a cover 13 resiliently deforms lugs 15a of a lever 15 to be opened, so that the cam receiving portion may be advanced through a portion 23 into a cam groove 16. After such advancement, lugs 15a are returned to their original position by means of resilient deformation, so that the portion 23 is engaged with the cam receiving protrusion 17, so as to prevent dislodgement of the cam receiving protrusion. The thickness of the portion 23 of the cam groove is selected so as to prevent dislodgement of the cam receiving protrusion. A restricting protrusion 24 is protruded laterally from the cam receiving protrusion 17. The restricting protrusion serves to urge the lugs 15 downwardly, so as to maintain constant amount of engagement between the cam receiving protrusion 17 and the portion 23 of the cam groove. Another restricting protrusion 25 extending in a vertical direction may be provided in the side wall 1 of the male connector housing 11.

For connecting or disconnecting the connectors, the lever can be expanded to maximize leverage. For storage, the lever can be contracted to minimize the amount of space occupied.

    摘要: A plastic frame 13 for electrical connectors has an open end 14. A closing plate 18 of plastic is connected to one side of the open end by means of a living hinge. A cover 24 for covering electrical wires is integrally formed on the upper side of the frame 13. During assembly, the closing plate 18 is opened and each connector 1 is inserted into the frame 13 by sliding protruding members 11 along guiding grooves 15. Then the closing plate 18 is closed and latched. The electrical wires coming out of the connector 1 are simultaneously collected together under the cover 24. For disassembly, the closing plate 18 can be unlatched and each connector pulled out one by one.

A guide wall 15, on the inside of which the female frame 21 fits closely, is provided around the entire periphery of the top surface of the male frame 1. The female frame 21 is temporarily assembled with hooks 56, which engage longitudinal grooves 57 in the guide wall 15. When a lever 40 is operated so as to draw the male and female frame together, the guide wall 15 ensures the connectors themselves are relieved of lateral loads. In an alternative embodiment a similar arrangement is provided between one pair of connectors tightly engaged in the respective frames.

    摘要: A rubber stopper is provided at a rear end of a housing. A receiving tool-insertion opening is formed on a bottom surface of a cavity of the housing such that the receiving tool-insertion opening is located immediately forward from the rubber stopper. A receiving portion is projectingly formed on a lower part of a pressure die. When the housing accommodating a pressure-connection terminal is placed on the lower part, the receiving portion projects upward through the receiving tool-insertion opening, and the apex of a mountain portion is located in the vicinity of an insertion hole of the rubber stopper. When a pressure tool installed on an upper part of the pressure die moves downward, a front end of an electric wire is pressed against and connected with a pressure blade. As a result, the electric wire projecting from the rubber stopper is stretched downward. In this case, a root portion of the electric wire is received with the receiving portion. Thus, the insertion hole of the rubber stopper is not subjected to the stretching force. Consequently, the insertion hole can be prevented from deforming, which provides sealing performance in the periphery of the electric wire securely.

    摘要: An electrical connector has a detecting member 17 is provided on the upper face of a locking member 9 so that it can slide freely in an anterior-posterior direction. A pair of arms 38 protrude in an anterior direction from two edges located in a width-wise direction of the lower face of the detecting member 17. A pair of plate-shaped ribs 41 which protrude upwards from the upper face of a corresponding male housing M correspond to the arms 38. If the detecting member 17 has been stopped in an advanced position before the housings M and F are fitted together, the anterior faces of the ribs 41 push against head members 39 of the arms 38 while the fitting operation is taking place and, as a result, the detecting member 17 is pushed back in a posterior direction. When the housings M and F are fitted further, the anterior end of the locking member 9 rises on top of the stopping member 15 and inclines. The detecting member 17 inclines together with it, and this causes the head members 39 of the arms 38 to rise onto the upper faces of the ribs 41. This allows the detecting member 17 to be reinserted. A half-fitted state of the connectors can thus be reliably detected.

When a male housing 1 and this female housing 11 are fitted together, a locking arm 20 rises over a stopping protrusion 7, a restraining wall 39 simultaneously engages a locking claw 22, and the coiled springs are compressed. The locking claw 22 makes contact with a contacting face of the restraining wall 39, this contacting face being a tapered face 40. When the locking arm 20 is about to pass over the stopping protrusion 7 to return to its original position, the restraining wall 39 receives a spring force F from the coiled springs and pushes the locking arm 20. A component force F1 in a returning direction of the locking arm 20 is obtained from this spring force F due to the tapered face 40. The component force F1 and the returning force of the locking arm 20 itself cause the locking arm 20 to return smoothly, and the locking arm 20 thus engages with the stopping protrusion 7.

To prevent creep of moisture by surface tension effects through the clearance between the terminal retainers 20, 40 and the retainer fitting holes 16, 36, the retainer is formed with a C-shaped recess 23, 43, and the retainer and hole are formed with matching cranked portions 19, 24, 39, 44. A central drain channel 15, 35 runs through the center of each housing 10, 30 and is sealed by means of mutually fitting tapered faces 26A, 46A. Overhanging hoods 14a, 14d shield the mating faces and rear ends of the connector housings. Mating terminal chambers 11, 31 also have tapered sealing faces 28, 48. A peripheral rib 45 on one housing 30 fits into a groove 25 on the housing with a long narrow clearance to prevent moisture creep. Drain channels 15, 35 engage one another at tapered mating faces 26A, 36A. The terminal retainer 20, 40 moisture creep prevention features are designed to direct the moisture into the drain channels 15, 35. A rear hood is also used to shield the open rear ends of the terminal apertures.

    摘要: A connector is provided to increase the strength for stopping a forward movement of a terminal fitting. The connector has a housing 11 with a cavity 12. A locking portion 18 is disposed in the cavity 12. Opposite side surfaces of a portion of a locking portion 18 more toward the leading end thereof than a locking projection 19 are cut off to form cut surfaces 21. Contact portions 23 projecting inward are formed continuously with a front wall 13 in areas of side surfaces of the cavity 12 facing the cut surfaces 21. Stabilizers 8 provided on a male terminal fitting 1 can come into contact with the back edges of the contact portions 23. A forward movement of the male terminal fitting 1 properly inserted is stopped by the contact with the front wall 13 and the contact of the stabilizers 8 with the contact portions 23. Since the contact portions 23 are formed taking advantage of spaces obtained by cutting off parts of the locking portion 18, they do not cause any enlargement of the cavity 12. Further, this portion of the locking portion 18 toward the leading end thereof from the locking projection 19 has almost no influence on the strength for locking the terminal fitting 1 so as not to be withdrawn backward, and the same degree of a locking force against the backward movement of the terminal fitting 1 as the locking portion of the prior art connector described above can be secured.
