摘要: A biasing system for a tri-layer reader stack magnetoresistive sensor is disclosed. The tri-layer reader stack includes a first ferromagnetic free layer, a second ferromagnetic free layer, and a magnetoresistive layer between the first and second ferromagnetic free layers. The free layers are positioned in the tri-layer reader stack such that quiescent state magnetizations of the free layers are antiparallel. A biasing layer is positioned with regard to the tri-layer reader stack, typically separated from the tri-layer reader stack by a nonmagnetic spacer layer. A biasing means is positioned such that a magnetization of the biasing layer is perpendicular to the quiescent state magnetizations of the free layers. This biasing results in the free layers having biased magnetizations directed substantially orthogonal with respect to each other.

摘要: A magnetic sensor assembly includes first and second shields each comprised of a magnetic material. The first and second shields define a physical shield-to-shield spacing. A sensor stack is disposed between the first and second shields and includes a seed layer adjacent the first shield, a cap layer adjacent the second shield, and a magnetic sensor between the seed layer and the cap layer. At least a portion of the seed layer and/or the cap layer comprises a magnetic material to provide an effective shield-to-shield spacing of the magnetic sensor assembly that is less than the physical shield-to-shield spacing.

摘要: A structure for stabilizing the active region of the magnetic sensor comprises a hard ferromagnetic element adjacent to a biasing multilayer element placed on either side of the active region of the magnetic sensor. The biasing multilayer element includes soft ferromagnetic and anti-ferromagnetic layers such that the biasing strength applied to the active region of the magnetic sensor is tuneable by adjusting the length of the soft ferromagnetic layer or layers as well as the insertion of spacer layers between the soft ferromagnetic materials and the anti-ferromagnetic layers. The inventive structure provides longitudinal bias to the active region with improved domain control, signal amplitude and side-reading properties.

摘要: An aerator assembly for an animal watering device having a rotor mount removably inserted in a discharge opening of a cover of the device and a rotor carried by the mount that is rotated by discharged water. The mount includes a conduit having one end inserted in the cover and an outlet at its opposite end conveying a discharged stream of water against rotor baffles causing rotation. The mount includes an arm that offsets an axis of rotation of the rotor relative to the stream so water impinges against a baffle. A pin can be included that engages the arm that is received through a rotor hub rotatively attaching the rotor to the arm. Such an aerator not only aerates water discharged during fountain operation, it also reduces noise by reducing splashing. The present invention is also directed to a pet fountain equipped with such an aerator assembly.

摘要: A pet fountain assembly that includes a cover with a drinking bowl formed therein that straddles a sidewall of a basin that can be user-provided enclosing a pump within a pumping chamber defined therebetween. The cover has a downwardly extending sidewall divided by openings that can be generally U-shaped or V-shaped into a plurality of supports on which the cover. In a preferred embodiment, one of the supports is disposed outboard the basin sidewall resting on the ground and another one of the supports is disposed inboard the basin sidewall resting on a bottom of the basin providing a water passage enabling water from the basin to reach the pump. The inboard support can provide an overflow spillway as well as define a shroud disposed between the pump and water in a lower drinking bowl of the basin. The basin can include an outwardly offset seat that locates the pump.
