摘要: A method and system for overriding a hard drive Active Protection System (APS). APS automatically parks a read/write head and locks the platters in a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) in a notebook computer in response to a physical shock, such as when the computer is dropped from the user's lap or during intense vibration caused by air turbulence during a passenger flight. Rather than permanently disabling the APS off, the present invention permits a convenient method and system for temporarily suspending the operations of the APS, thus allowing the user to still access the HDD in conditions in which motion occurs yet physical shock is not necessarily imminent.

摘要: A method and apparatus is provided for switching from a first screen display to a second screen display for a user to input data. An apparatus may comprise a first screen display for facilitating a thumb of a user to input on a touch screen of the apparatus, a second screen display for facilitating the other thumb of the user to input on the touch screen of the apparatus, and a switching system. The switching system may be configured to switch a screen item position between the first screen display and the second screen display. The switching system may receive orientation information of the apparatus from an orientation sensor, determine which hand of the user holds the apparatus, and may switch operation of the apparatus between the first screen display to the second screen display.

摘要: A heat dissipation system within a housing of a computer is disclosed. The heat dissipation system includes a heat dissipating fan, a temperature sensor, a rotation speed setting portion, and a performance control portion. The rotation speed setting portion is configured to change a rotation speed of the heat dissipating fan in a stepwise manner based on a threshold temperature and a measurement temperature measured by the temperature sensor. The performance control portion is configured to temporarily reduce the processing capability of a processor within the computer in response to a determination that the measurement temperature has exceeded the threshold temperature during a predetermined period of time.

摘要: An aspect of the present invention is to easily verify data integrity in data transmission and reception by means of an ad-hoc radio connection. A requester and requested end of an establishment of a cipher communication path are defined as source A and destination B, respectively. A predetermined verification data generation algorithm ID1 is arranged in advance between source A and destination B. Source A sends its own public key Kp to destination B, and at the same time generates verification data Xp based on Kp using ID1 and outputs Xp to its own verification image display section. On the other hand, destination B receives data Kx that is transmitted from source A as Kp, then generates verification data Xx based on Kx using ID1 and outputs Xx to its own verification image display section. A verifier determines that data integrity is secured if Xp and Xx displayed in the verification image display sections of source A and destination B match.

摘要: To change the frequency of a video clock without adversely affecting a display quality. To lower the frequency of a video clock, following steps are executed, detecting an opportunity which causes the reduction of the frequency of the video clock; lowering the frequency of the video clock in a frequency range within which a circuit employing the video clock (for example, a PLL (Phase Lock Loop) circuit) can follow a change in the frequency; and iterating the step of lowering the frequency of the video clock until a predetermined frequency is attained. In addition, the following steps are also performed, detecting an opportunity which causes the reduction of the frequency of the video clock; lowering the frequency of the video clock to a predetermined frequency during a vertical blanking interval of a display device that employs the video clock; and maintaining the predetermined frequency of the video clock until change of the frequency is required. Furthermore, the following steps are performed, detecting an opportunity which causes the reduction of the frequency of the video clock; changing a display color on a screen of a display device to a color for which flickers are not outstanding; and lowering the frequency of the video clock.

摘要: A camera system that transfers static image data while reducing power consumption is provided. A static image application issues a frame transfer command at a certain transfer period to a camera module. In each transfer period, the camera module wakes up from a suspend state and generates static image data. After the end of the transfer, the camera module transitions to the suspend state. The camera module is able to transition to the suspend state at each transfer period and thus is able to reduce power consumption.
