    摘要： A method for attaching a polymethylmethacrylate haptic having a colored core to an optic of an intraocular lens, containing the steps of providing the periphery of the optic with a pair of intersecting holes, inserting an end of the haptic into one hole, inserting an end of a polymethylmethacrylate anchor strand having a colored core into the second hole so that the end of the anchor strand and the end of the haptic intersect, aiming a laser capable of a transmitting energy of a visible wavelength at the intersection of the first and second holes, firing the laser through the optic at the point of intersection of the end of the haptic and the end of the anchor strand, wherein the optic transmits, but essentially does not absorb, the laser energy and the core the anchor strand and the core of the haptic absorb a portion of the laser energy sufficient to fuse the end of the anchor strand and the end of the haptic at their point of intersection.

    摘要： Intraocular lens coating compositions for reducing the risk of posterior capsule opacification are disclosed. The coating materials, which differ from the substrate material, consist essentially of at least two aryl acrylic hydrophobic monomers of the formula wherein: X is H or CH3; m is 0-10; Y is nothing, O, S, or NR wherein R is H, CH3, CnH2n+1 (n=1−10) iso OC3H7, C6H5, or CH2C6H5; Ar is any aromatic ring which can be unsubstituted or substituted with CH3, C2H5, n-C3H7, iso-C3H7, OCH3, C6H11, Cl, Br, C6H5, or CH2C6H5.

    摘要： A supplemental intraocular lens is provided for either preoperative or postoperative attachment to a conventional implanted intraocular lens to provide an adjustable or removable multi-focal optic or to provide a necessary optic of spherical, cylindrical or combination shape for refractive error correction in aphakic patients. An intraocular lens system is also provided including a primary intraocular lens modified to provide for securing a supplemental corrective intraocular lens to the primary lens. Either the primary or supplemental lens could be formed of a suitable multi-focal lens, or both lenses could be mono-focal.

An alarm responds to the detected separation of the sensor from the patient to signal the discontinuity in the sensor operation. The device is particularly useful with a patient warming device which is responsive to the patient's temperature as sensed by the sensor for controlling the heat applied to the patient.
