    Abstract: Vapor coating apparatus comprising a chamber having a liquid inlet, atomization means, and chilled substrate support. Carrier gas and coating liquid (e.g. monomer or polymer) are contacted under conditions that vaporize the liquid. Nozzle near chamber inlet has liquid and carrier gas inlets, outlets, and passageways through which liquid and gas streams flow. The outlets and passageways are shaped so that the liquid and carrier gas streams collide outside the nozzle, and the liquid is atomized and then vaporized due to conditions within the chamber. The vapor flows to a substrate at the chamber outlet where it is condensed. The gas discharged from the nozzle is at high velocity and can be shaped as a cone surrounding the liquid discharged from the nozzle in the interior of the gas stream cone.

    Abstract: A modular system for atomizing and delivering liquids to a substrate. The modular system comprises a liquid module, a means for providing an atomizing agent, a nozzle assembly and an actuator which is changeable between a first closed position and a second open position, for selectively allowing the atomizing agent to flow from the means for providing atomizing agent to the atomizing agent channel and for selectively allowing the liquid to flow from the cavity to the liquid delivery nozzle. The modular system atomizes liquids into a narrow distribution of particle sizes without the use of propellants or solvents. The modular system has replaceable liquid and atomizing agent modules. A method for atomizing liquids is also disclosed.

    Abstract: Removable nozzle tips, spray head assemblies including the nozzle tips and liquid spray guns that include the nozzle tips are described herein. The removable nozzle tips provide and define both the liquid nozzle openings and the center air outlets for the center air of the liquid spray guns and the spray head assemblies. The nozzle tips are removably attached over a liquid nozzle port formed in the spray head assembly and/or on the spray gun platform or body using any suitable attachment mechanism. The removable nozzle tips can be removed from the liquid spray gun or the spray head assembly without disturbing the remainder of the spray gun or the spray head assembly.

    Abstract: A method and an assembly useful for dispensing small quantities of liquid materials onto a workpiece. The assembly includes an applicator having a pin movable along a passageway from a retracted position to an extended position. As the pin moves to the extended position, a forward end of the pin picks up a small dot of the liquid materials and carries the dot to a position external of a housing of the applicator and into contact with a selected location on the workpiece. As the pin is retracted, a portion of the dot remains on the selected location and detaches from the pin. The assembly is particularly useful for dispensing small dots of solder paste at relatively high speeds in automated fashion at selected locations on a circuit board.
