Abstract: An air bag device includes a second panel that is provided with stitching or adhesive for modulating the unfurling action of an air bag after its peripheral seam comes out of a cover. For example, the second panel is formed with stitched portions or bonded portions, or tethers spanning the second panel are connected to the peripheral seam of the air bag. Further, only a single layer of a first panel of the air bag is disposed between the gas outlets of an igniter and the vehicle occupants. In operation, the peripheral seam of the air bag, when located within the cover, slides along the inner side wall of the cover against the friction therebetween, so that the first panel is slowly unfurled through an opening in the cover. After the peripheral seam of the air bag is ejected out of the cover, the above-indicated stitching or adhesive provided for the second panel is adapted to modulate the unfurling action of the air bag in the lateral direction and toward the vehicle passenger, so that the air bag can be unfurled at a relatively low rate.

The cushion may include a gasbag filled with gas. The child seat may further include vent portion for discharging the gas in the gasbag when a gas pressure in the gasbag exceeds a predetermined pressure. When a high load is exerted on the gasbag, the gas is discharged through the vent portion, thereby absorbing a shock.

Abstract: An airbag device includes an airbag that is deployed in front of a passenger's seat of a car, and an inflator for supplying gas to deploy the airbag. The airbag includes a lower bag segment for holding shoulders and a chest of an adult passenger when it is deployed, an upper bag segment that rises from the lower bag segment so as to hold a head of the adult passenger when it is deployed, and a partition cloth having an inner vent hole for separating the lower and upper bag segments. The inflator supplies the gas directly to the lower bag segment, and then to the upper bag segment through the inner vent hole.

Abstract: A child seat includes a seat body having a seat portion, a rear portion, and left and right side panels; airbags to be inflated at sides of a head of a child; and hollow cushions disposed along inner surfaces of the side panels. When an automobile equipped with the child seat collides, the airbags are inflated at the sides of the head of the child, so that an impact applied to the head is absorbed.
