    Abstract: A liquid crystal display includes a first gate line and a second gate line extending in a first direction, first to fourth data lines extending in a second direction perpendicularly intersecting the first direction, and a plurality of pixels connected respectively to either the first or second gate line and any one of the first to fourth data lines, where each of the pixels includes a pixel electrode which receives a data signal from the connected one of the first to fourth data lines, a region in which the pixel electrode is disposed includes a first domain and a second domain having average alignment directions of liquid crystal molecules different from each other, and the first gate line overlaps a boundary between the first domain and the second domain.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention includes a substrate, a gate line and a data line disposed on the substrate, a first passivation layer disposed on the gate line and the data line, a first electrode disposed on the first passivation layer, a second passivation layer disposed on the first electrode, and a second electrode disposed on the second passivation layer and including a plurality of first cutouts and a plurality of branch electrodes defined by the plurality of first cutouts, wherein the second passivation layer has a second cutout overlapping a portion of the plurality of first cutouts, and the second cutout is defined close to the end of the first cutout.

    Abstract: A thin film transistor array panel includes a substrate, a light blocking film disposed on the substrate, a buffer layer covering the light blocking film, and a channel region disposed on the buffer layer. A source region and a drain region are disposed in the same layer as the channel region. A gate insulating layer is disposed on the channel region, and a gate electrode overlaps the channel region, with the gate insulating layer interposed between the gate electrode and the channel region. A passivation layer is disposed on the gate electrode, the source region, the drain region, and the buffer layer. A source electrode and a drain electrode are disposed on the passivation layer, wherein the channel region, the source region, and the drain region comprise an oxide semiconductor, and wherein a carrier concentration of the source region and the drain region is larger than in the channel region.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display, according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, includes a first transparent substrate having an image displaying part and a transmitting part, and a second transparent substrate opposite to the first transparent substrate. A liquid crystal layer is formed between the first transparent substrate and the second transparent substrate. A first polarizing plate is disposed on a side of the first transparent substrate. A second polarizing plate is disposed on a side of the second transparent substrate. The transmitting part is in a normally white mode in which light travels through the liquid crystal layer in an absence of an electrical field provided thereacross.
