The disclosure can be applied to an intelligent service (for example, smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car or connected car, health care, digital education, retail, security and safety-related services, and the like) on the basis of a 5G communication technology and an IoT-related technology. A method for updating a navigation device, according to the disclosure, comprises the steps of: creating a communication channel with a terminal and transmitting, to the terminal through the communication channel, route information including at least one piece of location information set to be displayed on the navigation device; receiving, from the terminal, at least one piece of first additional information included within a predetermined threshold distance and matched to the at least one piece of location information on the basis of the route information; updating a database of the navigation device on the basis of the first additional information; and displaying the first additional information on the screen of the navigation device on the basis of the location information.
