    Abstract: A high-voltage power source for applying high voltage to a nozzle of an ESI ion source includes a charge release assistant section (26) including switch circuits (62 and 65) and other elements for forcing electric charges accumulated at output terminals to be discharged in a polarity-switching operation, whereby the positive/negative switching of the polarity of the output voltage can be quickly performed. In the mass spectrometer according to the present invention, for example, when the voltage applied to the nozzle needs to be changed from Vi to V2 (where V1 and V2 are positive, and V1>V2), a voltage control section (20) under the command of a main controller (9) operates a positive voltage generation section (21) and negative voltage generation section (23) so as to temporarily provide a negative output voltage. After a predetermined period of time, the voltage control section operates the positive voltage generation section (21) and negative voltage generation section (23) so as to provide voltage V2. If the voltage was simply changed from V1 to V2, the voltage would decrease slowly and require considerable time for the change. The positive/negative switching of the polarity induces the discharging of the electric charges accumulated at the output terminals, and consequently, the voltage-switching operation from V1 to V2 is quickly performed.

    Abstract: A power supply device applies a voltage to a quadrupole mass filter. The power supply device has a main substrate and a wave-detection substrate. The main substrate includes a detector. The wave-detection substrate includes a wave detector and an identifier. The wave detector detects an AC component of a voltage to be applied to the quadrupole mass filter as a wave-detection voltage. The identifier outputs identification information of the wave detector defined in correspondence with the configuration of a rectifying device of the wave detector. The detector detects identification information output by the identifier, and supplies the detected identification information to a corrector that corrects a deviation of voltage caused by a leakage current of the rectifying device.

    Abstract: An acceleration voltage generator (7) generates a high-voltage pulse to be applied to an electrode in an orthogonal accelerator by turning on/off a high DC voltage generated by a high-voltage power source through MOSFETs (741) in a switch circuit (74). A controller (6) sends driving pulse signals to the switch circuit (74) through a primary-side driver section (71), transformer (72) and secondary driver section (73). An adjustment circuit (742) formed by a gate resistor (742a) and gate capacitor (742b) is provided between the secondary-side driver section (73) and the MOSFET (741). The resistance value of the resistor (742a) and the capacitance value of the capacitor (742b) are determined so as to suppress an overshoot of the gate voltage due to the resonance while preventing a decrease in steepness of the waveform in its rising and falling phases.

    Abstract: An acceleration voltage generator is configured to cause a power MOSFET to turn on or off to switch a high direct-current voltage, so as to generate a high-voltage pulse for an ejection of ions from an ion ejector. A drive signal is used to cause the power MOSFET to turn on, and further includes a secondary drive signal to recharge a gate capacitance to cause the power MOSFET to stay in an on-state. In a drive signal generator, edge detection circuits generate an edge detection signal based on a start signal; selection circuits generate a primary drive signal by adjusting the edge detection signal in its signal width; and a secondary drive signal generator includes multiple circuit elements such as a semiconductor element, and generates the secondary drive signal.

    Abstract: An acceleration voltage generator generates a high-voltage pulse applied to a push-out electrode, by operating a switch section to turn on and off a high direct-current voltage generated by a high-voltage power supply. A drive pulse signal is supplied from a controller to the switch section through a primary-side drive section, transformer, and secondary-side drive section. A primary-voltage controller receives a measurement result of ambient temperature of the acceleration voltage generator from a temperature sensor, and controls a primary-side power supply to change a primary-side voltage according to the temperature, thereby adjusting the voltage applied between the two ends of a primary winding of the transformer. The adjustment made on the primary-side voltage changes a slope angle of rise of a gate voltage in the MOSFET, and enables a correction to a discrepancy in the timing of the rise/fall of the high-voltage pulse caused by change in ambient temperature.

    Abstract: A quadrupole mass spectrometry apparatus including a quadrupole power supply unit, in which the frequency of the high frequency voltage produced by a high frequency power supply is made switchable, and variable capacitors are provided in parallel with the floating capacitance of a quadrupole mass filter. In a high sensitivity mode which prioritizes sensitivity, the frequency of the high frequency voltage is made higher than in a high mass mode which prioritizes width of mass range, and the capacitance values of variable capacitors are increased. Increasing the capacitance value forming an LC resonant circuit causes the frequency based on the LC resonance conditions to rise, making it possible to cause LC resonance of the high frequency voltage with a higher frequency and to increase the amplitude thereof.
