Abstract: There is disclosed herein current-mode circuitry for measuring a timing difference between first and second signals, the circuitry comprising: a tail node configured during a measurement operation to receive a current pulse in dependence upon the first signal; first and second nodes conductively connectable to said tail node along respective first and second paths; and steering circuitry configured during the measurement operation to control such connections between the tail node and the first and second nodes based on the second signal to steer the current pulse so that a first portion of the current pulse passes along the first path and a second portion of the current pulse passes along the second path in dependence upon the timing difference between said first and second signals; and a signal output unit configured to output a measurement-result signal indicating a measure of said timing difference based upon one or both of the first and second portions.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to phase measurement circuitry operable based on a first clock signal having an intended clock frequency F1 and a second clock signal having an intended clock frequency F2, the circuitry comprising: a delay line configured to receive the first clock signal, the delay line comprising a plurality of delay units each configured to cause a propagation delay, and the plurality of delay units connected in series along the length of the delay line and defining a series of positions therebetween through which signal edges of the first clock signal propagate over time; an edge detector configured to sample the delay line at successive sample times based on the second clock signal and to record at each sample time the position of a given signal edge of the first clock signal along the delay line; and a phase angle determiner configured to determine a phase angle per delay unit based on successive recorded said positions.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to oscillating circuitry, comprising a controllable oscillator operable to generate an output signal having an output frequency dependent on a coarse value and a fine value, the coarse value causing the output frequency to be within an associated band of output frequencies and the fine value controlling the output frequency within that band; and control circuitry operable to generate the coarse and fine values so as to control the controllable oscillator. In certain arrangements, the control circuitry compensates for temperature fluctuations during operation.
