Abstract: An electronic device and an electronic device operating method according to various embodiments comprises: a processor operationally connected to the first communication module, the second communication module, and the security module, wherein the processor can be configured to control the second communication module such that the second communication module activates the accessory in response to the reception, through the first communication scheme, of a discovery signal broadcasted by the external electronic device, control the second communication module such that the second communication module transmits, to the accessory through the third communication scheme, the data to be used for authentication with the external electronic device, and control the accessory such that the accessory transmits, to the external electronic device through the second communication scheme, the data to be used for authentication with the external electronic device.

Abstract: Example embodiments include an electronic device and a method for operating an electronic device. The electronic device includes an ultra-wide band (UWB) antenna including directional antennas disposed on a rear surface of the electronic device and at least one omnidirectional antenna. The electronic device further includes a communication circuit configured to transmit and/or receive radio frequency (RF) signals of a frequency band designated to be used for UWB communication, through the UWB antenna, with an external electronic device. The electronic device further includes a processor configured to calculate a first distance value and a second distance value, and to determine, based on a distance difference between the first distance value and the second distance value, whether the external electronic device exists within a field of view (FoV) indicating a specified angular range with respect to the direction to which the rear surface faces.

Abstract: A method includes obtaining signal information based on wireless signals received from an external electronic device via a first antenna pair and a second antenna pair. The first and second antenna pairs are aligned along different axes. The signal information includes channel information, range information, a first angle of arrival (AoA) based on the first antenna pair, and a second AoA based on the second antenna pair. The method also includes generating an initial prediction of a presence of the external electronic device relative to a field of view (FoV) of the electronic device. The method further includes performing a smoothing operation on the range information and the first and second AoA, the smoothing operation generating a predicted location of the external electronic device relative to the FoV of the electronic device. Additionally, the method includes generating, based on the smoothing operation, confidence values associated with the predicted location.
