Abstract:
A method for fabricating semiconductor wafers as multiple-depth structure (i.e., having portions of varying height). The method includes patterning a first substrate and bonding a second substrate to the first. This process creates a subsurface patterned layer. Portions of the second substrate may then be etched, exposing the subsurface patterned layer for selective processing. For example, the layered structure may then be repeatedly etched to produce a multiple depth structure. Or, for example, exposed portions of the first substrate may have material added to them to create multiple-depth structures. This method of fabrication provides substantial advantages over previous methods.
Abstract:
A method of coating a workpiece. The method includes applying a primer layer having a color pigment to the workpiece, applying a basecoat layer to the primer layer, and applying a clearcoat layer to the basecoat layer. The primer layer contributes to the color of the workpiece.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for character set control, verification and reporting are provided. In an example embodiment, a data evaluation system comprises at least one module, executing on one or more computer processors, to implement a language and character set phase in which an authorized character set comprising authorized characters is defined; a document phase including receipt of an input document, the input document comprising document characters; a detection phase including a comparison of the document characters against the authorized characters in the authorized character set to detect unauthorized characters in the input document not forming part of the authorized character set; and a reporting phase including display of the unauthorized characters to a user.
Abstract:
A system is disclosed for monitoring paint color across regions of a vehicle, for identifying color mismatches, and for dynamically determining the acceptability of an identified mismatch. The system includes a vehicle image acquisition array digital cameras for digitally scanning selected regions of the vehicle and an image analyzer connected to the vehicle image acquisition system. The image analyzer is programmed with standard confidence color curves and includes software programmed with an analysis algorithm to convert an image of a scanned region into a standard image format. Individual color curves are extracted from the standard format to compare the extracted color curves against the standard confidence color curves to determine whether or not the extracted color curves fall within standard confidence color curves. The standard confidence color curves may be adjusted during color testing based upon accumulated extracted color curves.
Abstract:
A computer readable medium stores executable instructions to define a hybrid slowly changing dimension table; establish vertical hierarchy tables from the hybrid slowly changing dimension table; query a first vertical hierarchy table to produce first results characterizing current hierarchical relationships; and query a second vertical hierarchy table to produce second results characterizing historical hierarchical relationships.
Abstract:
In an embodiment of the present invention there is provided a micro-electromechanical (MEMS) accelerometer, including a substrate, a first sensor and a second sensor. The first sensor is configured to measure an acceleration along a first axis parallel to a plane of the substrate. The second sensor is configured to measure an acceleration along an axis perpendicular to the plane of the substrate. The second sensor comprises a first beam, a second beam and a single support structure. The single support structure supports the first and second beams relative to the substrate, wherein the first and second beams circumscribe the first sensor.
Abstract:
A system for remotely managing and causing display of changeable information on an semi-static electronic display element includes a data entry device having a user interface, configured for allowing a user to enter one of more pieces of changeable information. A changeable information receiving device is located remotely from the data entry device, and electronically coupled to the remotely located data entry device, and configured for receiving and storing the entered one or more pieces of changeable information received from the data entry device. A changeable information display device, including a display element and preferably battery operated, is located in relatively close proximity to the remotely located changeable information receiving device, and configured, in a first mode, for wirelessly receiving the remotely entered changeable information from the receiving device, and for causing the display element to display the received, user entered changeable information, and configured in a second mode for periodically interrogating or awaiting receipt of the changeable information from the receiving device, and configured, in a third mode, for entering a sleep or very low power consumption mode.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are described that may be used to provide decoupled rotation of structures about different pivot points. The apparatus may include one or more fixed blades mounted to a frame or substrate, one or more movable blades mounted to each structure to be moved, and flexures on which the structures are suspended. Separate movable blades may be provided for each degree of freedom. When voltage is applied between the fixed and movable blades, the electrostatic attraction generates a force attracting movable blades toward blades that are fixed relative to the moveable blades, causing a structure to rotate about the flexures. The angle of rotation that results may be related to the size, number and spacing of the blades, the stiffness of the flexures and the magnitude of the voltage difference applied to the blades. The blades are fabricated using deep silicon etching.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an improved mounting assembly for securely supporting elongated items against a surface. The assembly includes a device to attach at least one elongate object to the mount, a spring section, and a mount section. The mount section is in the form of a rectangular fir tree mount. The rectangular fir tree mount has a tapered tip and a generally rectangular shape. The center segment of the rectangular fir tree mount includes a number of curved branches. The spring section includes flexible springs extending downwardly from the mount. The flexible springs provide tension and resistance when the mount is inserted into a supporting surface. The flexible springs and the branches allow the rectangular fir tree mount to be utilized on panels of varying thicknesses.
Abstract:
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is a method of providing an executable program from an executable program provider to a customer for use in a controller of a three dimensional coordinate measurement system. The method includes receiving a request to create an executable program from a customer and obtaining information related to the executable program. The executable program is developed which guides an operator through a number of measurement steps to be performed with the three dimensional coordinate measuring system. The executable program is delivered to the customer over a network.
