摘要: A cardiac electrode assembly includes an electrode lead with a plurality of electrical conductors in a common lead jacket. The electrical conductors include a primary conductor and at least a first secondary conductor. At a proximal end of the lead, the conductors terminate at a connector having a plurality of exposed electrical contacts. The contacts include a primary contact connected to the primary conductor and a secondary contact connected to the secondary conductor. A plurality of cardiac electrodes is mechanically connected to the distal end of the lead. The plurality includes a primary cardiac electrode and at least a secondary cardiac electrode (more preferably, at least two secondary cardiac electrodes) connected to one or more secondary conductors. In still preferred embodiments of the invention, multiple secondary conductors with separate leads in the common jacket are connected to the distal end of the common lead jacket.

摘要: A sealed electrode enclosed in separator material is provided for use in a capacitor cell. The separator may either be adhered to the electrode in sheets, or may be formed into a pouch, which is used to enclose the electrode. A method of preparing the electrode sealed with separator is described in which an adhesive is used to secure the pouch to the electrode before sealing it. The prefabricated electrode and separator combination may be used in both coiled capacitor cells and flat capacitor cells that are often used in implantable medical devices. Electrodes prepared in this fashion can be efficiently and reliably aligned within the case of a capacitor cell, and have no exposed electrode surfaces that could lead to short-circuiting within the cell.

摘要: Flat electrolytic capacitors, particularly, for use in implantable medical devices (IMDs), and the methods of fabrication of same are disclosed. The capacitors are formed with an electrode stack assembly comprising a plurality of stacked capacitor layers each comprising an anode sub-assembly of at least one anode layer, a cathode layer and separator layers wherein the anode and cathode layers have differing dimensions that avoid electrical short circuits between peripheral edges of adjacent anode and cathode layers but maximize anode electrode surface area. The electrolytic capacitor is formed of a capacitor case defining an interior case chamber and case chamber periphery, an electrode stack assembly of a plurality of stacked capacitor layers having anode and cathode tabs disposed in the interior case chamber, an electrical connector assembly for providing electrical connection with the anode and cathode tabs through the case, a cover, and electrolyte filling the remaining space within the interior case chamber. The plurality of capacitor layers and further separator layers are stacked into the electrode stack assembly and disposed within the interior case chamber such that the adjacent anode and cathode layers are electrically isolated from one another. The anode layer peripheral edges of the anode sub-assemblies of the stacked capacitor layers extend closer to the case side wall than the cathode peripheral edges of the cathode layers of the stack of capacitor layers throughout a major portion of the case chamber periphery. The separator layer peripheral edges extend to the case periphery and space the anode layer peripheral edges therefrom. Any burrs, debris or distortions along or of any of the anode layer peripheral edges causing the anode layer edges to effectively extend in the electrode stack height direction causes the anode layer peripheral edges having such tendency to contact an adjacent anode layer. In this way, anode layer surface area is maximized, and short circuiting of the anode layers with the cathode layers is avoided. A case liner can also be disposed around the electrode stack assembly periphery.

摘要: Devices and methods of use for introduction and implantation of an electrode as part of a minimally invasive technique. An implantable baroreflex activation system includes a control system having an implantable housing, an electrical lead, attachable to the control system, and an electrode structure. The electrode structure is near one end of the electrical lead, and includes a monopolar electrode, a backing material having an effective surface area larger than the electrode, and a releasable pivotable interface to mate with an implant tool. The electrode is configured for implantation on an outer surface of a blood vessel and the control system is programmed to deliver a baroreflex therapy via the monopolar electrode to a baroreceptor within a wall of the blood vessel.

摘要: A device for holding a surgical suture including a base, a guide body, a cam body, a bearing member, and a spring member. The base has a top side, a front edge, and a back edge. The guide body projects from the top side of the base and defines a guide face having an entrance side and an exit side. The entrance side is adjacent the front edge and the exit side is adjacent the back edge. The cam body is pivotally mounted to the top side and forms a toothed surface positioned to selectively secure a surgical suture against the guide face. The spring member is positioned between the cam body and the bearing member, biasing the toothed surface toward the guide face.
