摘要: The present invention provides methods of treating traumatic spinal cord injury, methods of reducing cell-mediated demyelination of long descending fiber tracts or local circuits in the spinal cord following traumatic spinal cord injury, and methods for improving or restoring locomotor recovery and/or fine motor movement in an individual following spinal cord injury. The present invention further provides compositions for use in the methods. The methods generally involve administering to an individual in need thereof an effective amount of an L-selectin antagonist.

A system as described herein includes a battery array comprising one or more batteries, a heat collector physically coupled to respective batteries of the battery array that captures heat associated with at least one of charge cycles or discharge cycles of the respective batteries of the battery array, and a routing controller communicatively coupled to the heat collector that initiates transference of the heat captured by the heat collector as an energy source to one or more subsystems that are distinct from the heat collector.

摘要: The present invention provides novel assays for determining the ability of a test compound to inhibit intercellular adhesion mediated by a selectin receptor, such as the LHR. The assays involve contacting the test compound with the receptor and an isolated receptor-binding agent. The receptor-binding agent is a sulfated polysaccharide, a sulfated glycolipid, or a compound comprising the extracellular region of an endothelial cell surface glycoprotein. Also provided are compositions comprising a compound comprising the extracellular region of an endothelial cell surface protein, which is specifically recognized by lymphocyte homing receptors.
