摘要: An abradable coating composition for use on shrouds in gas turbine engines (or other hot gas path metal components exposed to high temperatures) containing an initial porous coating phase created by adding a “fugitive polymer” (such as polyester or polyimide) to the base metal alloy, together with a brittle intermetallic phase such as &bgr;-NiAl that serves to increase the brittle nature of the metal matrix, thereby increasing the abradability of the coating at elevated temperatures, and to improve the oxidation resistance of the coating at elevated temperatures. Coatings having about 12 wt % polyester has been found to exhibit excellent abradability for applications involving turbine shroud coatings. An abradable coating thickness in the range of between 40 and 60 ml provides the best performance for turbine shrouds exposed to gas temperatures between 1380° F. and 1850° F. Abradable coatings in accordance with the invention can be used for new metal components or to repair existing equipment.

摘要: A method of applying a profiled abradable coating onto a substrate in which an abradable ceramic coating composition is applied to a metal substrate using one or more coating application techniques to produce a defined ceramic pattern without requiring a separate web or grid to be brazed onto the substrate. The invention is particularly designed to withstand the higher operating temperatures encountered with the stage 1 section of 7FA+e gas turbines to allow for increased coating life without significant deterioration in structural or functional integrity. Typically, the grid pattern coating begins approximately 0.431″ after the leading edge of the shroud, and ends approximately 1.60″ before the trailing edge of the shroud. In the case of diamond-shaped patterns, the grid pattern will be about 0.28″ long and 0.28″ wide, with an overall thickness of about 0.46.″ The coatings thus provide the required levels of abradability and leakage performance and may be applied as a chevron or diamond pattern with the shape oriented such that the diagonals run perpendicular and parallel to the sides of the shroud.

摘要: Apparatuses useable in an offshore drilling installation close to the seabed for controlling well influx within a wellbore are provided. An apparatus includes a centralizer and flow constrictor assembly, a sensor and a controller. The centralizer and flow constrictor assembly are configured to centralize a drill string within a drill riser and regulate a return mud flow. The sensor is located close to the centralizer and flow constrictor assembly and configured to acquire values of at least one parameter related to the return mud flow. The controller is coupled to the centralizer and flow constrictor assembly and the sensor. The controller is configured to control the centralizer and flow constrictor assembly to achieve a value of a control parameter close to a predetermined value, based on the values acquired by the sensor.

摘要: A pump system includes inlet chambers, an outlet chamber, and rotors disposed inside the inlet chambers and the outlet chamber to pump a process fluid from the inlet chambers to the outlet chamber and to direct the process fluid to a separator. A gear chamber is configured to receive a portion of the process fluid from the separator. First and second sets of pump bearings are coupled to the rotors and lubricated by the portion of the process fluid flowing from the gear chamber. A conduit is configured to direct the portion of the process fluid from the pump bearings back to the gear chamber. Some of the portion of the process fluid lubricating the pump bearings is permitted to leak to the inlet chambers. Additional process fluid is continually added to the portion of the process fluid to compensate for fluid leaking to the inlet chambers.

摘要: A screw pump system has a plurality of rotors disposed inside a pump casing. Each rotor comprises a shaft and a set of threads disposed on the shaft configured to mesh with at least one other set of threads. A plurality of bearings are coupled to each end of each of the rotors. A plurality of gears are coupled to an end of each of the rotors. The gears are configured to reduce a size of particulates in a lubrication fluid by flowing the particulates through the rotating gears. The gears may serve as timing gears for the rotors as well as perform pumping of the lubrication fluid.
