An ionization type smoke sensing device includes a printed board. An inner electrode made of heat-resistant metal is attached to the printed board and a radioactive source is fixed to the inner electrode. An outer electrode in the form of a bottomed cylinder made of heat-resistant metal and adapted to cover the inner electrode extends through the printed board and is integrally joined to a protective lid member made of heat-resistant metal at the back of the printed board. Therefore, the outer electrode and the lid member cooperate with each other to define an ionization chamber. The outer electrode is formed with smoke inlet ports for introducing smoke into the ionization chamber. The electric circuit serves to give pulse signals of a relatively high voltage to the outer electrode and to detect the presence of smoke on the basis of the amount of a current flowing through the inner electrode.

The polymer block (A) can have a restraining phase, and/or can be cross-linked. The electrolyte membrane is mild to the environment, has a high ion conductivity and good bonding properties to electrodes, is excellent in moldability, and is not easily influenced by methanol; and displays excellent performance in polymer electrolyte fuel cells, particularly direct methanol fuel cells.

Porosity of a separator is larger than or the same as porosity of a positive electrode mixture and a porosity of a negative electrode mixture. Particularly, the porosity of the positive electrode mixture is 20% to 50%, the porosity of the negative electrode mixture is 20% to 50%, and the porosity of the separator is 20% to 60%. The separator becomes rich in the volume of the electrolytic solution that infiltrates into interfacial aperture between the separator and the negative electrode. When the large current discharge is carried out in a short time, lithium-ions are released/occluded from the electrodes and the electrolytic solution can gain the released/occluded lithium-ions with a small interfacial resistance.
