    摘要: A wavelength conversion laser 100 is provided with a solid-state laser having a cavity, and a wavelength converting element 6 arranged within the cavity. The solid-state laser includes two or more types of laser crystals 4 and 5 and oscillates solid-state laser light of multiple wavelengths. The wavelength converting element 6 converts the solid-state laser light of multiple wavelengths into light of second harmonic waves and sum-frequency wave of multiple wavelengths and simultaneously generates the second harmonic waves and sum-frequency wave of multiple wavelengths. The wavelength conversion laser 100 outputs converted wavelength light having a broad spectral width and low coherency, thereby enabling it to carry out highly efficient and stable high-output oscillation.

    摘要: Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device capable of performing image display with more adequate white level, during an operation of displaying an image which requires emphasizing white. A backlight illuminator for illuminating a liquid crystal display panel comprises a white light source adapted to generate white light, in addition to a laser source adapted to generate red light, blue light and green light. When an image to be displayed on a liquid crystal display panel requires emphasizing white, white light from the white light source is emitted to a liquid crystal display panel, in addition to red light, blue light and green light from the laser source. This makes it possible to display the image which requires emphasizing white, in the form of an image with more natural image quality.

    摘要: A light source portion having laser light sources emitting red light, green light, and blue light and conventionally disposed integrally with the liquid crystal display panel is spatially separated from the liquid crystal display panel. Accordingly, the power supply, the optical system, and the heat source are incorporated into the light source portion and are thereby completely separated from the liquid crystal display panel. A laser beam emitted from the light source portion is guided to the liquid crystal display panel via a fiber. In this manner, it is possible to achieve a liquid crystal display device capable of significantly reducing the liquid crystal display panel in thickness and weight.

Each transparent prismatic member 5 has a transmissive plane 3, and a diffusion-reflection plane 4 formed at a specified angle. The diffusion-reflection plane 4 is formed by arranging a reflection film on one of surfaces of the transparent prismatic member 5. Projection light is diffused and reflected by the diffusion-reflection plane 4, and external light passes through the transmissive plane 3, and is absorbed in the base 1.
