    摘要: The present invention relates to methods and devices to control and operate the functionality of a power amplifier system (100) capable of operating in at least three differential amplification modes. The drive signal's amplitude envelope controls an integrated switch network (104; 105, 106) that routes both the signal envelope and signal phase to different modulation blocks (111, 112: 109, 110: 115). Depending on the envelope strength, the operational mode of the amplifier system is possible to alter to best serve the signal statistics to provide the highest overall power efficiency.

The object of the present invention is to provide a solution to the problem to combine balanced amplifiers like the current mode class D (CMCD) or class E/F with a LINC network. The main problem is that some power amplifiers have balanced output and the LINC network is single-ended so that a high power low loss transformer that works at several impedance levels is needed, which is hard to realize at cellular frequencies.

The power-amplifier arrangement (35) comprises a pulse modulator (40) adapted to receive a digital input signal of the power-amplifier arrangement (35) and generate, based on the digital input signal of the power-amplifier arrangement (35), an output signal of the pulse modulator (40) with a plurality of quantization levels. The pulse modulator has a plurality of output ports (50—1-50—n) for representing the output signal of the pulse modulator (40). Each output port (50—1-50—n) of the pulse modulator (40) is associated with a unique one of the quantization levels such that a signal output on the output port (50—1-50—n) adopts a first state when the output signal of the pulse modulator (40) equals or exceeds the associated quantization level, or, otherwise, a second state. The power-amplifier arrangement further comprises an amplifier section (55) comprising a plurality of amplifiers (60—1-60—n). Each amplifier (60—1-60—n) has an input port (65—1-65—n) operatively connected to a corresponding unique one of the output ports (50—1-50—n) of the pulse modulator (40) and an output port (70—1-70—n) for outputting an output signal of the amplifier (60—1-60—n), and a power-combining network (75) operatively connected to the output ports (70—1-70—n) of the amplifiers (60—1-60—n) and arranged to combine the output signals from the amplifiers (60—1-60—n) for generating an output signal of the power-amplifier arrangement (35). The radio transmitter comprises at least one digital filter having adjustable parameters. Via a control signal input the transmitter can receive a feedback signal being indicative of the output signal from the transmitter. The radio transmitter comprises programmable digital circuitry adapted to analyzing the feedback signal and to generating an analysis result. The programmable digital circuitry is further adapted to adjusting the adjustable parameters of the digital filter in accordance with the analysis result.
