摘要: The invention relates to a process for producing a surface layer with embedded inter-metallic phases, which is distinguished by the fact that a layer comprising a metal and a ceramic is applied to a substrate element, that a reaction takes place between the metal and the ceramic of the layer as a result of energy being introduced during the application of the layer or as a result of a subsequent introduction of energy, and as a result the surface layer is produced, with inter-metallic phases being formed.

摘要: The invention relates to a surface layer which comprises a plurality of layers, of which one layer is a ceramic wear-resistant layer and another layer is a transition layer to a metallic substrate element. The transition layer comprises intermetallic phases and is formed by a reaction from the materials of the substrate element and of the ceramic layer.

摘要: This invention provides a porous thermal barrier layer for protecting parts of an internal-combustion engine having parts which are acted upon by combustion, and particularly by heat, and to a process for applying such a thermal barrier layer to these parts. The thermal barrier layer, which is formed of grains and/or fibers connected with one another on the exterior side, and is produced at least partially from a heat-resistant, temperature-shock-stable and abrasion-proof barrier material, has a heat penetration number defined by the following formula b=.sqroot.p.cndot.C.cndot..lambda. with b: the heat penetration number of the thermal barrier layerin J.cndot.(Kcm.sup.2 .sqroot.s).sup.-1 !, p: the density of the thermal barrier layer in g/cm.sup.3 !, .lambda.: the thermal conductivity of the barrier material in W/cmK!, and C: the specific heat of the barrier material in J/gK! which heat penetration number is smaller than 0.25 J.cndot.(Kcm.sup.2 .sqroot.s).sup.-1 !, particularly smaller than 0.1 J.cndot.(Kcm.sup.2 .sqroot.s).sup.- !. Furthermore, grains and/or fibers which are hollow are used during the application of the thermal barrier layer, so that the total porosity of the thermal barrier layer 1 is higher than 20%.

摘要: Ceramic moldings containing finely crystalline cordierite are described, which are obtainable by the intensive grinding of precrystallized cordierite powder, mixing the powder with second additive phases of higher modulus of elasticity, shaping the mixture, and sintering the greenware thus obtained in a siliceous atmosphere at temperatures between 900.degree. and 1400.degree. C. The moldings according to the invention have not only good mechanical strengths but also outstanding dielectric and thermal properties; they are therefore especially suitable for use as dielectrics and as thermal insulating components.

摘要: A process for producing a fiber-reinforced, ceramic structural component comprising high-temperature resistant fibers which are reaction-bonded to a matrix of silicon carbide comprises the steps of coating bundles of fibers with pyrolysable binder and solidifying the binder, producing mixtures of fiber bundles, fillers and binders, pressing the mixtures to produce a pressed body, pyrolysing the pressed body under the exclusion of oxygen to form a porous, carbon-containing preform, infiltrating the preform with a silicon melt to form the silicon carbide matrix, in which various pressing compounds are produced, which contain fibers of different quality and in different proportions and different coatings. These pressing compounds are arranged at different levels and in different spatial directions in the press mould during the filling of the press mould. After the pressing, the regions produced in this way are retained in the press mould. After the infiltration of the preform with silicon, the structural component is distinguished by different materials properties, in particular ductility and resistance to wear.
