摘要: A method and apparatus for reducing the effect of inter-wave interference on signals read from a storage medium and to precisely digitize the read signals are described. An apparatus for digitizing a signal read from a storage medium according to an embodiment of the invention, comprises: a peak detector, for detecting a peak value for an amplitude of a signal read from the storage medium; a threshold value determiner, for employing the peak value obtained by the peak detector to determine a compensation value that is used for compensating for the effect of inter-wave interference on the signal, and for employing the threshold value calculated by the conventional method and the compensation value to determine a compensated threshold value; and a digitization circuit, for digitizing the signal by using the threshold value determined by the threshold value determiner. Optionally an interpolator may be used to obtain more accurate peak values which occur between sample points.

Having a bulb height ranging from 50 to 60 mm and a discharge path from 200 to 300 mm long, the arc tube (18) is designed such that the total luminous flux is not less than 700 lm with a lamp efficiency of not less than 60 lm/W when the lamp is lit at the lamp power of 7 to 15 W. An envelope (19) comprising the cover (14) and the globe (17) has a height ranging from 110 to 125 mm, including the height of the base (12).

摘要: A compact self-ballasted fluorescent lamp (10) which is equivalent to a typical light bulb is provided. The self-ballasted fluorescent lamp (11) induces a cover (14), a ballast (16), an arc tube (18), a base (12) and a globe (17) and formed into a shape whose outline dimensions are nearly identical to the standard dimensions of a typical light bulb. The arc tube (18) is comprised of a plurality of U-shaped bent bulbs (31) which have an inner tube diameter ranging from 6 to 9 mm and arranged in parallel with one another. Having a bulb height ranging form 50 to 60 mm and a discharge path from 400 to 500 mm, the lamp power is 16 to 23 W. An envelope (19) comprising the cover (14)and the globe (17) has a height ranging from 110 to 125 mm including the height of the base (12). As single lead wire (copper-weld) (54) is sealed with the pinch seal portion (45b,45c) at position away from the connecting tube (36) of the bulb (31), the thermal effect to which the copper-weld wire (54) is subject when connecting the tubular bodies (33a, 33b, 33c, 33d) with the connecting tube (36) is reduce and cracks generated on the pinch seal portion (45) which is the sealed point, as a result of the copper-weld wire (54) heated to a high temperature can be prevented and the yield can be improved.

摘要: A duty cycle tuner measures high and low periods of a signal, calculates an actual duty cycle, generates duty control signals based on the actual duty cycle and a desired duty cycle, and adjusts the duty cycle responsive to the duty control signals. The high and low periods are measured using high-speed counters to provide a high count for the high period and a low count for the low period. The actual duty cycle value is then computed from the high and low counts, and compared to the desired duty cycle value to generate increment and decrement signals which may be positive or zero, to increase, decrease or maintain the actual duty cycle. In this manner, even if the high and low counts are subject to variations due to process, temperature or power supply voltage, their ratio is independent of such variations, so the tuner is immune to those effects.

摘要: A barrel shifter uses a sign magnitude to 2's complement converter to generate decoder signals for its cascaded multiplexer selectors. The sign input receives the shift direction and the magnitude input receives the shift amount. The sign magnitude to 2's complement converter computes an output result as a 2's complement of the shift amount using the shift direction as a sign input, assigns a first portion (most significant bit half) of the output result to a first decoder signal, and assigns a second portion (least significant bit half) of the output result to a second decoder signal. This encoding scheme allows the decoder circuits to be relatively simple, for example, 3-to-8 decoders for an implementation adapted to shift a 64-bit operand value rather than the 4-to-9 decoder required in a conventional barrel shifter, leading to faster operation, less area, and reduced power consumption.

摘要: A low power oscillator circuit for a self-refresh timer in a memory array is disclosed. When a voltage (V1) of a comparison node (N1) exceeds a first reference voltage (Vref1), a differential amplifier (101) in an oscillator (1) causes a pulse generator (110) to output a pulse. A charge/discharge circuit (105) discharges the comparison node (N1) in response to pulse. In this event, a control circuit (4) disables a first control signal (CT1) to halt operation of the differential amplifier (101). When the voltage (V1) exceeds a second reference voltage (Vref2) equivalent to the sum of threshold voltages of a discharge circuit (43) in consequence of gradually charging the comparison node (N1) by the charge/discharge circuit (105) after it was discharged, the control circuit (4) activates the first control signal (CT1) to operate the differential amplifier (101).
