Abstract:
Compositions comprise first antioxidants and first additives, such as, a surface additives, performance enhancing additives and lubricant protective additives and optionally second additives and/or second antioxidants. The compositions are useful to improve lubricants, lubricant oils and other lubricant materials. The compositions and methods generally provide longer shelf lives, increased oxidative resistance, improved quality and/or enhanced performance to lubricants or lubricant oils.
Abstract:
Antioxidant polymers of the present invention comprise repeat units that include one or both of Structural Formulas (I) and (II): wherein: R is —H or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, acyl or aryl group; Ring A is substituted with at least one tert-butyl group or substituted or unsubstituted n-alkoxycarbonyl group; Ring B is substituted with at least one —H and at least one tert-butyl group or substituted or unsubstituted n-alkoxycarbonyl group; Rings A and B are each optionally substituted with one or more groups selected from the group consisting of —OH, —NH, —SH, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl group, and a substituted or unsubstituted alkoxycarbonyl group; n is an integer equal to or greater than 2; and p is an integer equal to or greater than 0. The invention also includes methods of using and preparing these polymers.
Abstract:
A method of preparing a phenolic polymer comprising: a) protecting at least one hydroxyl group of a substituted or unsubstituted phenol represented by Structural Formula (XXIX), wherein: R11, R12, R13, R14 and R15 are independently —H, —OH, —NH, —SH, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkoxycarbonyl or aryloxycarbonyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkoxy group or a saturated or unsaturated carboxylic acid group; or R11, R12, R13, R14 or R15, in conjunction with an adjacent R11, R12, R13, R14 or R15, forms a substituted or unsubstituted alkylene dioxy group; provided that at least one of R11, R12, R13, R14 or R15 is a tert-butyl group 1-ethenyl-2-carboxylic acid or ester thereof, a substituted or unsubstituted alkylene dioxy group or a substituted or unsubstituted n-alkoxycarbonyl group, at least one of R11, R12, R13, R14 or R15 is a hydroxyl group, and at least one of R11, R12, R13, R14 and R15 is —H; with a protecting group, wherein thereby obtaining one or more protected hydroxyl groups; and b) polymerizing the substituted or unsubstituted phenol, thereby obtaining the phenolic polymer.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for the synthesis of sterically hindered polymeric antioxidants based on phenol type antioxidant monomers. The method includes mono-deacetylating, polymerizing and deacetylating an aryl monomer represented by the following structural formula: to produce a sterically hindered polymeric macromolecular antioxidant. X, R10 and q are as defined herein. The disclosed method is a simple, direct and economical process for the synthesis of sterically hindered polymeric macromolecular antioxidants.

Abstract:
This invention relates to composite fabrics having two layers of nonwoven fabric comprising entangled non-bonded nylon filaments and a reinforcing layer of fiberglass scrim adhesively attached to each of the nonwoven layers. The composite fabrics are useful as backings in a carpet assembly.
Abstract:
A novel multi-layer sod and the method for making said sod is disclosed. The sod contains recycled waste products including pieces of carpet and compost.
Abstract:
A stitch-bonded fabric having two split-film layers as a weft component and one split-film layer as a warp component held together by a stitching yarn is improved significantly in its performance as a primary backing for a tufted pile carpet by having a nonwoven sheet of continuous organic filaments attached to the warp component. In tufting, the nonwoven sheet becomes the back side of the backing.
Abstract:
Disclosed are compositions comprising antioxidants and stabilizers, such as, acid scavengers or organic phosphorus stabilizers, and optionally further comprising co-stabilizers. The disclosed compositions are useful as stabilizers for polyolefins and other polymeric materials. The disclosed compositions and methods generally provide longer shelf lifes and better oxidative resistance to materials than currently available antioxidants.
