    摘要: A system for three-dimensional tomosynthesis imaging of a target element includes an image acquisition element and a processor. The image acquisition element obtains a plurality of images of the target element from a plurality of angles and includes a radiation source that is positionable at a plurality of angles with respect to the target element and a radiation detector. The radiation detector is positioned so as to detect radiation emitted by the radiation source passing through the target element and determine a plurality of attenuation values for radiation passing through the target element to establish a radiation absorbance projection image of the target element for a particular radiation source angle. The processor is configured to apply an iterative reconstruction algorithm to the radiation absorbance projection images of the target element obtained from a plurality of radiation source angles to generate a three-dimensional reconstruction of the target element.

    摘要: A properly calibrated load-cell is critical for the safe operation of a rod-pumping system. Load readings are utilized for shutdown thresholds, and incorrect measurements can cause those safe load limits to be exceeded. Correct surface load, combined with position measurement, is also important for the diagnosis of the complete pumping system. The diagnostic method for calculating down-hole conditions presents an interesting opportunity to validate surface load measurements, even from the incorrect load measurements themselves. The calculated down-hole dynamometer card will be transposed on a distinct diagonal with respect to both load and position, if the input surface load measurements are incorrect. A load offset can then be identified from this shifting and the surface load measurements can be corrected. Calculated pump cards have been traditionally aligned with the surface dyno card position, and so this diagonal pump card shifting correlation with incorrect, or unexpected, surface load has not been realized.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for measuring position and magnitude of downhole mechanical friction. The apparatus comprises sensors that reside along, or in-line with, a section of equipment that is installed or removed from a wellbore. The sensing device is configured measure relative to the wellbore during a work-over or other well intervention procedures where said section of equipment (tubing, rods, drill pipe, etc.) is installed in, or removed from, the wellbore. Recorded measurements are then processed to correct for dynamic forces to provide a measure of friction through the portions of the wellbore where said equipment travels. The sensing can be done near the source of friction, or at some distance through a mechanical connection. A method for determining depth and magnitude of downhole friction is also provided. Additionally, a method for applying the map of wellbore friction to the design and analysis of a rod actuated pump is presented.

A syntactic foam sealing adhesive film is applied to the surface of syntactic foam core and under the outer skin to both seal the foam core and adhere the outer skin. The syntactic foam sealing adhesive is formulated to provide a uniform layer and to reduce the fabrication time and labor while improving the overall radar absorbing characteristics of the structural article.

    摘要: A hydraulic oil well pumping system is provided. The system uses a pump to exert hydraulic pressure against a reciprocating piston over a wellbore. The piston is connected to a rod string and downhole pump for pumping oil from a wellbore. The system includes an electronic control system that controls movement of the piston as it moves between the upper and lower rod positions by cycling the hydraulic system between (i) an “upstroke” condition wherein the pump is pumping oil through the oil line into the hydraulic cylinder to move the piston to its upper rod position, and (ii) a “neutral” condition wherein the pump is no longer pumping oil into the hydraulic cylinder, but is allowing oil to flow back through the oil line in response to gravitational fall of the piston. The control system is programmed to cycle based upon a volumetric calculation of hydraulic oil in the cylinder without reference to position sensors along the wellhead. Wellhead conditions or placement of the hydraulic cylinder inside the wellbore may prohibit attaching physical sensors at the wellhead. A method for pumping oil from a wellbore using such a system is also provided herein.

    摘要: The present invention provides a system for imaging an object by irradiating it with low doses of radiation, such as x-ray, from a plurality of positions angularly distributed about the object, and analyzing the intensity of the radiation transmitted through the object. A system according to the invention can include a radiation source, a low noise detector, and an image processor. The radiation source emits radiation toward a target scene, containing an object to be imaged, from a plurality of angular positions. In one embodiment, the plurality of angular positions defines an arc about the target scene. In another embodiment, the radiation source moves in a series of steps of varying angular spacing along the arc to generate the multiple images of the scene. The detector is positioned to detect radiation transmitted through the scene and produces radiation transmission data representing the intensity of the radiation transmitted through the scene. The image processor receives the radiation transmission data from the detector and produces a three-dimensional image of the scene. In some embodiments of the invention, the resolution of the detector can be varied. In such embodiments, the system of the invention further includes a resolution controller that varies the spatial resolution of the detector in response to the angular position from which radiation is emitted toward the scene.
