This invention relates to new liquid or fluid polyamine/carbonic acid salt compositions free from crystalline content and their preparation from mixtures containing at least one aliphatic or cycloaliphatic polyamine, an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydroxyamine having at least one hydroxyl group and at least one amino group, and water and optionally diluents and/or conventional auxiliary agents and additives, by the addition of carbon dioxide. The proportion of polyamine to hydroxyamine is in the range of from about 95:5 to 10:90 % by weight, the quantity of water added is from about 0.01 to 5 mol of H.sub.2 O per amine equivalent (but at least 1 mol of water per mol of CO.sub.2) and the quantity of CO.sub.2 added is from about 0.01 to 0.99 mol of CO.sub.2 per amine equivalent. The invention further relates to the use of these liquid polyamine/carbonic acid salt compositions for the production of foamed polyurethane ureas, especially for coating substrates or for the production of sheet products, using prepolymers preferably containing blocked isocyanate groups and the liquid polyamine/carbonic acid salt compositions as chain lengthening agents and/or crosslinking agents and at the same time as physiologically harmless blowing agents.

Liquid polyamine crosslinking agent formulations based on trimerized toluylene 2,4- and/or 2,6-diisocyanate, with formation of an isocyanurate structure and hydrolysis of the isocyanate groups to amine groups, are described. The novel crosslinking agent formulations have a content of 40 to 80% of the total weight of the solids content of the crosslinking agent formulation of 1,3,5-tris-(3-amino-4-methyl-phenyl,2-methyl-3-aminophenyl) isocyanurate (I) which is not further condensed, and a content of not more than 1.0% of the total weight of the crosslinking agent formulations of toluylene-2,4- and/or -2,6-diamine (III). For the preparation, toluylene diisocyanate is trimerized, to form the isocyanurate structure, until 10 to 25% of the NCO groups have been reacted. The toluylene diisocyanate which has not undergone condensation is then distilled off, the bottom product formed by this operation is taken up directly in a solvent A and the 30 to 70% strength by weight solution formed by this procedure is metered into a hydrolysis in water/N,N-dialkyl-carboxylic acid amide in the presence of a catalytic amount of a basic catalyst. After the hydrolysis, the crosslinking agent formulations are brought to a solids content of 35 to 60% of the total weight of the formulation by distilling off a portion of the solvents and adding a solvent B.

The invention is directed to a process for the production of molded articles by deep-drawing a prefabricated polyurethane(urea) part produced from a polyisocyanate polyaddition product having a specific gravity of at least 0.8 g/cm.sup.3. The part is placed inside a deep-drawing mold and pressed at a temperature of up to 230.degree. C. and a pressure of up to 1,000 bar. After the deep-drawing process, the part is subjected to a dwell time of at least 10 seconds at a temperature of up to 230.degree. C. and a pressure of up to 1,000 and is immediately thereafter removed from the mold.

Polyamines containing aromatically bound primary amino groups are prepared in a single stage process by hydrolyzing an isocyanate in the presence of a compound containing an amidine and/or guanidine group and a water-miscible, aprotic-dipolar solvent. This hydrolysis is carried out at from 20.degree. to 210.degree. C. with the reactants being in substantially homogeneous phase. The isocyanate starting material contains aromatically bound NCO groups and has NCO content of from 0.5 to 40 wt. %. The compound containing amidine and/or guanidine groups functions as a catalyst and is used in a quantity of at least 0.001 parts by weight for every 100 parts by weight of isocyanate. The water-miscible solvent is used in a quantity of at least 10 parts by weight for every 100 parts by weight of polyisocyanate. The polyamines thus-produced are particularly useful in the production of polyurethanes.
