    摘要: The present invention provides a nano-particle comprising a shell and a polar core, their preparation, and their applications in ER fluids, polymeric product, rubber composition, tire product, hard disk drive gasket, matrix composition, and engine mount etc. The shell comprises a polymer formed from formula (I) monomers and the core comprises a polymer formed from formula (II) monomers, in which R1 and R2 are hydrogen; R3, R4, R5, R6, and up to three of R7, R8, R9, and R10 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, propyl, and isopropyl; and at least one of R7, R8, R9, and R10 is a polar group that is more polar than any one of R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, and R6 groups.

    摘要: A process for forming a nanoparticle composition is provided. The process includes polymerizing conjugated diene monomer in a hydrocarbon solvent to form a first reaction mixture, and charging excess alkenylbenzense monomer and anionic catalyst to form mono-block and diblock polymers. Micelles of said mono-block and diblock polymers are formed, and at least one crosslinking agent is added to cross-link the micelles and form nanoparticles. The nanoparticles preferably have a poly(alkenylbenzene) core and an outer layer including monomer units selected from the group consisting of conjugated dienes, alkenylbenzenes, alkylenes, and mixtures thereof, and a size distribution of between about 1 and 1000 nm.

    摘要: The present invention teaches a method for enabling the formation of a high damping compound. The method includes: reacting a poly(alkenyl benzene-co-maleimide) polymer with a maleated polyalkylene and an alkyl diamine under substantially dry conditions sufficient to form a polyalkylene grafted poly(alkenyl benzene-co-maleimide) polymer product; and, dispersing the polyalkylene grafted poly(alkenyl benzene-co-maleimide) polymer product within a rubber formulation to form a relatively high damping compound. The present invention also contemplates a rubber compound composition and an article manufactured from the composition.

A method for making the rubber composition and the tire tread is also provided.
