Abstract:
An example of a functionalized plasmonic nanostructure includes a plasmonic nanostructure core; a polymeric hydrogel attached to the plasmonic nanostructure core, the polymeric hydrogel having a thickness ranging from about 10 nm to about 200 nm; and a plurality of primers attached to side chains or arms of the polymeric hydrogel, wherein at least some of the plurality of primers are attached to the polymeric hydrogel at different distances from the plasmonic nanostructure core.
Abstract:
A winterized paraffin inhibitor, which is capable of being used for preventing the deposition of paraffins in hydrocarbon streams and capable of withstanding freezing or crystallization at freezing or sub-freezing temperatures, may be formed by adding an oxyalkylated branched aliphatic compound having 12 or more carbons to a high molecular weight aliphatic polymer paraffin inhibitor, the oxyalkylated branched aliphatic compound having 12 or more carbons being produced by the oxyalkylation of the branched aliphatic compound having 12 or more carbon atoms in which the branched aliphatic compound having 12 or more carbon atoms is grafted with a polyether via a ring-opening reaction, wherein the polyether is a polymer of ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, butylene oxide, and combinations thereof.
Abstract:
This invention relates to monodisperse cross-linked hydrogel polymer particles comprising a polymer formed from (a) a hydrophilic vinylic monomer; and (b) a crosslinker comprising at least two vinyl groups. The invention also relates to monodisperse seed particles with a Z-average diameter of from 100 nm to 1500 nm that comprise a plurality of non-crosslinked oligomers of poly N,N-dimethylacrylamide. Also provided are methods of forming the monodisperse cross-linked hydrogel polymer particles and monodisperse seed particles.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are a photosensitive resin composition and a cured film prepared therefrom. By comprising a copolymer (A) and a photopolymerizable compound (B) in specific amounts, a photosensitive resin composition may form a cured film having pattern developability with high resolution and good elasticity recovery rate. The composition may be effectively used for the formation of a cured film, particularly a spacer of a display device such as a liquid crystal display and an organic electroluminescence device.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are compositions and methods for reducing the antigenicity of molecules, wherein the molecule comprises a uricase. The antigenicity of a molecule may be reduced or eliminated by conjugating at least one branched polymer to the molecule to form a molecule-polymer conjugate. The branched polymer may include a backbone and a plurality of side chains, each side chain covalently attached to the backbone.
Abstract:
A coating composition for a food or beverage can that includes an emulsion polymerized latex polymer formed by combining an ethylenically unsaturated monomer component with an aqueous dispersion of a water-dispersible polymer.
Abstract:
An aqueous liquid medium for analyzing, purifying or separating species in an element having walls or for treating the walls of an element. The medium includes at least a polymer consisting of several polymeric segments. The polymer is of the irregular block-copolymer or irregular comb-like polymer type and has on the average at least three junction points between polymeric segments of different chemical or topological nature. The medium may be used in methods for analyzing, purifying or separating species and methods for treating an element to be contacted with a fluid and/or species contained in the fluid during preservation, transport, analysis, purification or separation of the fluid.
