A control process and apparatus for the formation of silver halide grains comprising a mixer disposed outside of a reaction vessel containing an aqueous protective colloid solution and causing a nucleus formation (nucleation) and/or a crystal growth of silver halide grains. The process and apparatus further include: supplying an aqueous solution of a water-soluble silver salt, an aqueous solution of water-soluble halide(s), and an aqueous solution of a protective colloid to the mixer through supply conduits while controlling the flow rates of the solutions; mixing them while controlling the rotational speed of a stirrer of the mixer to form fine, silver halide grains; and immediately supplying the fine grains into the reaction vessel through a conduit connecting the mixer to the reaction vessel to perform the nucleus formation and/or the crystal growth of the silver halide grains in the reaction vessel. The control process and apparatus further comprise measuring the silver ion potential of the fine grains formed in the mixer or the silver ion potential in the reaction vessel with an electrode, and controlling the flow rate of at least one of the aqueous silver salt solution, the aqueous halide solution, and the aqueous protective colloid solution being added to the mixer, such that the measured value equals a predetermined value.

Also, by removing a portion of the water, used for the dilution, from the liquid being added to the reaction before the addition thereof, the amount of diluting water effective for the formation of silver halide fine grains in the mixer is increased, to thereby form finer silver halide grains in the mixer.

A throttle valve opening sensor detects an actual opening of a throttle valve, and an ECU calculates a desired opening of the throttle valve according to the rotational speed of the engine and the required torque of the engine, which is calculated according to operating conditions of the engine and operating conditions of the vehicle, and electrically controls the throttle valve such that the detected actual opening of the throttle valve becomes equal to the desired opening of the throttle valve. An intake pressure sensor detects actual intake pressure within the intake passage, and desired intake pressure within the intake passage is calculated according to the rotational speed of the engine and the required torque of the engine. The desired intake pressure is compared with the detected actual intake pressure, and the desired opening of the throttle valve is corrected based on results of the comparison.

The present invention relates to a retrieval space determination system for three-dimensionally shaped parts in a computer aided design (CAD) system. An input unit inputs coordinates of two points defining one side of a retrieval space displayed on a display screen and inputs the depth of the retrieval spaced based on that side. A file stores three-dimensional shape data. A circumscribing sphere creating unit reads a selected three-dimensionally shaped part from the file storing the three-dimensional shape data and creates a circumscribing sphere for the selected three-dimensional shape part in accordance with the coordinate data of the part. The coordinate conversion unit converts center coordinates of the circumscribing sphere, created by the circumscribing sphere creating unit, into coordinates of the retrieval space input from the input unit. An in/out decision units compares the center coordinates of the circumscribing sphere converted into coordinates of the retrieval space, the radius of the circumscribing sphere, and the coordinates of the sides of the retrieval space and, based on this data, determines whether the circumscribing sphere is completely included within the retrieval space or is only partially included within the retrieval space.
