    摘要: A liquid crystal display device is made by disposing an STN cell (16) in which nematic liquid crystal (6) having a twist angle in the range from 180° to 270° is filled and sandwiched between a first substrate (1) having a first electrode (3) and a second substrate (2) having a second electrode (4) at the center, providing a retardation film (13) and an absorption-type polarizing film (8) outside the second substrate (2) in order, and providing a reflection-type polarizing film (10) and a light absorbing film (11) outside the first substrate (1) in order. This enables a metallic silver background due to the reflected light by the reflection-type polarizing film (10) and display in black or in color by light passing through the reflection-type polarizing film (10) being absorbed in the light absorbing film (11) or only light of specific color being reflected.

    摘要: A single color liquid crystal display device is made up of a TN liquid crystal cell 7 with about 90° twisted nematic liquid crystals sealed in-between a pair of transparent substrates 1, 2 having respective transparent electrodes 3, 4, a first polarizing film 17 disposed on the visible side of the TN liquid crystal cell 7, and a second polarizing film 18, a retardation film 6 for circularly polarized light, a cholestric liquid crystal polymer sheet 10, a translucent light absorbing member 15 and a backlight 16 disposed successively on a side of the TN liquid crystal cell 7, opposite from the visible side thereof. With such a constitution, display is rendered visible even at night by lighting up the backlight 16, and colored display in a metallic tone can be indicated.

With such a constitution, time display and calendar display are rendered visible even at night by lighting up the backlight, and colored display in a metallic tone can be indicated.

    摘要: An exhaust silencing device connected to an exhaust system of an engine is provided in which two outlet pipes that have at an upstream end thereof an opening portion opening within the silencer main body and that discharge exhaust gas within the silencer main body to an outside thereof are disposed within the silencer main body along a bottom thereof so that the distances thereof from the lowest part of the bottom are substantially equal, and the opening portion of one outlet pipe is directed further toward the bottom of the silencer main body than is the opening portion of the other outlet pipe. Such exhaust silencing device efficiently discharges to the outside the condensed water building up within the silencer main body so as not to impair an effect in reducing exhaust resistance by providing two outlet pipes that guide the exhaust gas to the outside.

The display device thus constructed achieves a high-contrast bright transmissive display, and can also produce a reflective display utilizing an internal reflector type structure.
