The hub has spokes which radially extend from the hub to an integral annular head member. The rotor which is made from a composition consisting essentially of from 50-85 percent by volume of silicon carbide and 50-15 percent by volume of copper and from 0-15 percent by volume of graphite fiber, develops a thermal conductivity at room temperature of from 0.16-0.74 cal/cm.multidot.sec.multidot..degree.C.     摘要: Friction material pads for use in a brake system with an aluminum-metal matrix composite rotor wherein a brake application can create operational temperatures that approach 450C. The formulation of the composition for the friction pads is generically a basic non-asbestos organic formula modified to include a high abrasive content, solid lubricant package, and a porous copper powder. The porous copper powder which makes up from 2-18 percent by weight the friction pads has a nominal diameter of 0.20 mm. The porous copper powder proportionally responds to temperature and mechanical forces generated during a brake application by deforming and smearing to aid in the formation of a glaze between the engaging surfaces of the friction pads and aluminum-metal matrix composite rotor. This glaze prevents scoring of the aluminum-based rotor while at the same time maintaining a substantial stable coefficient of friction of approximately 0.4 during brake applications over a wide range of speeds and deceleration rates.

    摘要: A composition of material for use as a friction material in a brake and its method of manufacture. Liquid double salts of dibasic and monobasic (ammonium-potassium hydrogen) phosphoric acid (DSP) is added to a dry mixture of reinforcing fiber, friction modifiers, fillers and phenolic resin to create a high viscosity slurry. Thereafter, a metallic (magnesium) oxide and para formaldehyde (para) are added to the slurry. Molds which have been previously heated are filled with the slurry and any excess removed. The metallic oxide reacts with the DSP and the para reacts with the phenolic resin to create a two binder matrix for holding the reinforcing fiber, friction material and fillers in a fixed relationship corresponding to the shape of a brake pad. The brake pads are removed from the molds and transported to a ventilated chamber where the internal curing proceeds at or near ambient temperature to complete the manufacture of the brake pad.

The bonding head, which applies heat and pressure to the electrical conductors and leads to bond them together, is an elongated member comprised of a material having high mechanical strength but low thermal conductivity which contains a conduit comprised of a material having low mechanical strength but high thermal conductivity. A heating element inserted in the conduit supplies heat to the conduit and bonding head. This arrangement provides a bonding head having a high mechanical strength and hence structural failure and deformation of the bonding head is reduced.

    摘要: An ultrasonic pump having a first housing connected to a second housing to create a cavity therebetween. The first housing has a central stem that extends into the cavity with a passage for connecting the cavity with an outlet port. The second housing has an inlet port for communicating hydraulic fluid to the cavity. A plurality of piezoelectric disc are located on the stem by a first diaphragm to defined a actuation chamber within the cavity. The first diaphragm engages the first housing and stem to isolate the piezoelectric disc from hydraulic fluid supplied to the cavity and place a predetermined axial force on the piezoelectric disc. A second diaphragm located in the first and second housing has first and second surfaces which are substantially equal distances from the passage and the inlet port. Thereafter, air is bleed from the cavity to assure that only hydraulic fluid is present in the cavity. The piezoelectric disc are connected to a source of electrical energy and in response to an excitation signal develop a fluctuating force. The fluctuating force has an axial component and a radial component and the axial component alone is communicated to the first diaphragm. After the axial component of the fluctuating force overcomes the predetermined axial force, the fluid pressure of the hydraulic fluid in the cavity changes as a function of the axial component force. This change in fluid pressure causes sequential movement of first and second surfaces of the second diaphragm toward the inlet port and passage and as a result hydraulic fluid is transmitted from the cavity through the passage to the outlet port.
