    摘要: A polysiloxane comprises diaryl, dialkyl, and arylalkyl siloxane units, and further has at least a functional group. Such polysiloxane can be further copolymerized with an additional monomer to produce polymeric compositions suitable for making ophthalmic devices. The additional monomer can be selected to produce desirable properties for ophthalmic applications, such as high refractive index and/or high elongation.

    摘要: A process for producing polysiloxane prepolymers of improved homogeneity for use in the production of relatively high refractive index polymeric compositions is described herein. Polymeric compositions so produced are useful in the production of ophthalmic devices such as for example intraocular lenses and corneal inlays. The preferred polymeric compositions are produced through the copolymerization of one or more polysiloxane prepolymers with hydrosilane-containing polysiloxanes.

    摘要: A polymeric radiation-absorbing material comprises units of a polymerizable benzotriazole-based radiation-absorbing compound and a monomer, and is capable of absorbing UV radiation, at least about 90 percent of light having wavelength of 425 nm, less than about 50 percent of light having wavelength of 450 nm, and less than about 30 percent of light having wavelength of 475 nm. Ophthalmic devices, such as contact lenses, corneal rings, corneal inlays, keratoprostheses, and intraocular lenses, are made from such polymeric material.

    摘要: A polysiloxane prepolymer that is useful for forming biomedical devices comprises blocks (I) and (II) and is terminated at each end with an ethylenically unsaturated radical: (*Dii*Diol*Dii*PS)x  (I) (*Dii*PS)y  (II) wherein: each Dii is independently a diradical residue of a diisocyanate; each Diol is independently a diradical residue of a diol having 1 to 10 carbon atoms; each PS is independently a diradical residue of a polysiloxane-containing diol or diamine; each * is independently —NH—CO—NH—, —NH—COO— or —OCO—NH—: x represents the number of blocks (I) and is at least 2, and y represents the number of blocks (II) and is at least 1.
