摘要: The present invention relates to methods for preparing cereal-based beverages. The present invention provides, for example, methods for steeping and germination of cereal grain under continuous aeration. Particularly, the present invention provides methods for heating the germinated cereal grains prior to wet milling of germinated cereal grains and direct transfer of the germinated grain, without drying, to the brewery for further processing. Compared to current methods the methods of the present invention significantly reduce water consumption, energy consumption and transport need.

摘要: According to the invention, there is provided null-LOX-1 barley and plant products produced thereof, such as malt manufactured by using barley kernels defective in synthesis of the fatty acid-converting enzyme lipoxygenase-1. Said enzyme accounts for the principal activity related to conversion of linoleic acid into 9-hydroperoxy octadecadienoic acid, a lipoxygenase pathway metabolite, which-through further enzymatic or spontaneous reactions-may lead to the appearance of trans-2-nonenal. The invention enables brewers to produce a beer devoid of detectable trans-2-nonenal-specific off flavors, even after prolonged storage of the beverage.

摘要: A process for preparing C-terminally amidated peptides, Peptide-NH.sub.2, is presented. In a first step, a substrate component is reacted with a nucleophile component in the presence of trypsin or a carboxypeptidase using as nucleophile a compound NH.sub.2 -R to form a first reaction product Peptide-NH-R. In a second step, the first reaction product is non-enzymatically chemically cleaved to form the C-terminally amidated product, Peptide-NH.sub.2. The substrate component is selected from a) peptide derivatives Peptide-X-Y, where X is an amino acid or peptide residue and Y is OH, OMe or C-terminal modification and c) C-terminally esterified peptides, Peptide-OR', where R' is alkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, or aralkyl. The nucleophile component is selected from ##STR1## wherein A-F and A'-E' are carbon atoms or up to two hetero atoms, Y is H, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, oxo or carboxy, X.sup.1 -X.sup.5 are H or various substituents. The cleavage may be induced by photolysis, solvolysis, reduction, rearrangement elimination, or oxidation. The process may be adapted to enzymatic synthesis and lends itself to C-terminal amidation of many types of peptides.

摘要: In traditional plant breeding approaches, chemical mutagenesis may be utilized to introduce nucleotide substitutions at random in the genome of a plant, i.e. without possibilities to control the sites of nucleotide changes. Because of genome complexities, the statistical probability is extremely little when it comes to finding a predetermined nucleotide substitution. The present invention, however, demonstrates how a novel, alternative use of digital polymerase chain reaction (dPCR), preferably droplet dPCR (ddPCR), is developed to exploit finding of specific nucleotide substitutions in mutated genes. The entire platform comprises a screening method with a library of mutagenized organisms, digital PCR—based systems and a set-up to propagate and analyze identified, mutated organisms.

摘要: A method of coating hydroxylated surfaces by gas phase grafting is described. Especially acyl groups, silyl groups and/or alkyl groups are located on the surface of materials by gas phase grafting. The grafting method is a dry process. The material to coat can be organic or inorganic materials. The produced surface coated material are strong and durable and material normally not water-proof can be water-proof due to the surface treating. Examples of items produced from surface treated material may be water-proof cardboard boxes, other containers, furniture, interior for cars and boats. Items produced from organic materials such as from plant parts are biodegradable.
