    摘要: Optical beams from lasers are directed towards the middle and edges of a hot rolled steel sheet by fixed mirrors and rotatable mirrors which allow for different sheet widths. The points of incidence of the beams are observed by photodiode cameras whose receiving axes are orientated by fixed mirrors and rotatable mirrors so that the points remain in the respective fields of observation of the cameras. The levels of the points are obtained by triangulation and are used in the calculation of the planarity of the sheet.

    摘要: At the outlet of a hot rolling mill the temperature of a hot rolled rail is reduced to a value not lower than that at which the pearlitic transformation begins in the rail head. The continuously moving rail is then rapidly cooled to below 650.degree. C. so that at least 80% of the austenite-pearlite transformation has occurred at the end of rapid cooling. The rail is then cooled to ambient temperature.

    摘要: To determine a dimension of an article, a beam is directed at the article by means of a first mobile deflector so as to scan the part of the profile of the article comprising the dimension to be measured. Rays reflected by the article are orientated in the direction of at least one receiver by means of a second mobile deflector. The deflectors are angularly moved at different speeds. The positions occupied by two points related with the dimension are determined. The dimension is calculated with respect to these points.

    摘要: A tubular steel section at a temperature, above Ac.sub.1, at which the steel contains at most 15% ferrite is subjected to martensitic and/or bainitic quenching followed by still air cooling. The effects of quenching are limited to a surface layer, internal and/or external, of the section. At the end of the quenching step the part of the section remote from the quenched surface layer or layers is at a temperature above 675.degree. C. which permits self-tempering of the quenched surface layer or layers at a temperature above 450.degree. C. and ensures transformation of residual austenite to a martensite-free structure.

    摘要: Volatile compounds are desorbed from an aqueous liquid containing ammonia, by means of a stripping column. The aqueous liquid is supplied to the upper part of the column and a gaseous mixture including free oxygen is blown into the lower part of the column. Sodium hydroxide and/or calcium hydroxide is supplied to an intermediate part of the column at a plurality of levels. A gaseous mixture including ammonia is withdrawn from the top of the column. The pH and the temperature of the aqueous liquid are measured at a plurality of levels in the column. The flow rate of the aqueous liquid and the flow rate and temperature of the gaseous mixture blown in and of the hydroxide are controlled so that the pH of the aqueous liquid, at least in a predetermined zone of the column, is at least 11.
