摘要: An apparatus for manufacturing a rack bar includes a pre-forming machine forming a flattened portion on an outer peripheral surface of a hollow shaft member, a teeth forming machine forming rack teeth on the flattened portion, a heat treatment machine quenching the rack teeth, a first conveying machine carrying the shaft member into and from the pre-forming machine, a second conveying machine carrying the shaft member into and from the teeth forming machine, and a third conveying machine carrying the shaft member into and from the heat treatment machine. The first conveying machine, the second conveying machine, and the third conveying machine hold one end of the shaft member from a radially inner side of the shaft member. The apparatus of the rack bar are suitable for manufacturing a relatively short hollow rack bar having rack teeth formed over substantially an entire length of a shaft member.

摘要: Methods for induction surface hardening of a ring surface of a work piece. The ring surface and a hardening device have an induction coil moved relative to one another in a treatment direction in a feed mode. A sprinkler located downstream of the induction coil in the direction of treatment serves to heat the ring surface, starting from an initial zone to a final zone, with the induction coil and then hardens it by cooling the ring surface with the sprinkler. An unhardened soft zone is provided between the initial zone and the end zone. The supplementary induction coil, the induction coil and the sprinkler are activated and deactivated separately at the start of hardening and at the end of hardening, respectively, the speed between the hardening device and the work piece and/or the power supplied to the supplementary induction coil and the induction coil varied at the same time.

摘要: Provided is a high strength steel machine part. A method for manufacturing a machine part comprises the steps of: preparing a workpiece of steel to be a machine part; and subjecting the workpiece to a quenching process by heating a surface portion of the workpiece, with shear strain applied to the surface portion, to a heating temperature of an A3 transformation point temperature or higher, and subsequently cooling the surface portion. The workpiece has a carbon content of 0.2 mass % or more. In the step of subjecting the workpiece to a quenching process, the heating temperature is 800° C. or higher, and in the quenching process the workpiece has the surface portion cooled at a rate of 35° C./second or faster for a temperature range of 850° C. to 300° C.

摘要: Disclosed is a method for continuous thermal treatment of a steel strip. The strip passes through consecutive thermal treatment chambers, is quickly cooled in at least one of the chambers by spraying liquid onto the strip, or by spraying a fluid made up of gas and liquid or spraying a combination of gas and liquid forming a mist. After quick cooling, a protective metal layer is deposited on the strip by dip coating. The cooling fluid strips iron oxides or other alloy elements contained in the steel to be treated, minimizing oxidation and reducing the oxides on the strip. Spray pressure and distance are chosen to facilitate the stripping property and the mechanical action of the sprayed fluid, reducing the layer of oxides on the strip. The temperature of the strip at the end of the cooling step is the temperature necessary for carrying out the desired treatment cycle.

摘要: A method for producing a hardened steel component in which a sheet blank is stamped out and the stamped sheet blank is heated to a temperature ≥Ac3 and as needed, is kept at this temperature for a predetermined time in order to carry out the austenite formation and then the sheet blank, which has been heated all over or only in some regions, is transferred to a forming die, is formed in the forming die, and in the forming die, is cooled at a speed that lies above the critical hardening speed and is thus hardened or else the sheet blank is completely cold formed and the formed sheet blank is heated all over or only in some regions to a temperature >Ac3 and as needed, is kept at this temperature for a predetermined time in order to carry out the austenite formation and then the sheet blank, which has been heated and formed all over or only in some regions, is transferred to a hardening die, and is hardened in the hardening die at a speed that lies above the critical hardening speed; the steel material is adjusted in a transformation-delaying way so that at a forming temperature that lies in the range from 450° C. to 700° C., a quench hardening takes place through the transformation of the austenite into martensite; after the heating and before the forming, an active cooling takes place in which the sheet blank or parts of the sheet blank is/are cooled at a cooling speed of >15 K/s; for the homogeneous, contactless cooling of hot sheet blanks or components, a cooling apparatus and an article with a hot surface are moved relative to each other; the cooling apparatus has at least two cooling blades or cooling columns that are parallel to and spaced apart from each other; oriented toward the sheet blank to be cooled or the component to be cooled, the cooling blades or cooling columns have a nozzle edge with nozzles; the nozzles direct a cooling fluid at the surface of the sheet blank or the component and after the cooling fluid contacts the hot surface, it flows away in the space between the blades or cooling columns.

摘要: A hot forming by gas and direct quenching method and apparatus are disclosed. One method of using the system includes a heating step, a forming step, and a direct quenching step. This method increases the quenching speed and allows common steels with high critical cooling rate to be hot formed and quenched. This method reduces or eliminates the need for a furnace and/or the coating of the workpiece prior to the forming, as well as the removal of the coating after the forming. Furthermore, by using a hot gas containing carbon or nitrogen, the workpiece may be case hardened after the heating, forming and quenching steps.
