摘要: The invention concerns a method of producing a foot and mouth disease virus (FMDV) virus-like particle (VLP) in a baculovirus expression system, the method comprising the steps of (i) infecting an insect cell with a baculovirus expression vector, (ii) culturing the insect cell in cell culture medium for 5 days or more post infection and (iii) harvesting the FMDV VLP from the cell culture medium. The invention further relates to a vaccine for use in the protection of a subject against an infection with FMDV, the vaccine being obtainable by the method of the invention.

摘要: For the prevention of parasite infestation of animals, an isoxazoline can be administered by drinking water route. However the inventors have found that when the drinking water is sanitized, for instance by using hypochlorite, the isoxazoline becomes degraded. Surprisingly, the isoxazoline can be protected from degradation by the use of a vitamin E. A pharmaceutical composition can now be prepared containing a concentrated solution of the isoxazoline in a solvent and co-solvent, with vitamin E. The composition can be diluted in drinking water, even when sanitized, to prepare medicated drinking water for animals. This way an anti-parasitic treatment can be mass-administered, leading to a highly effective reduction of the parasite infestation of an animal, and its surroundings.

摘要: A parasite analysis system includes a pressure vessel configured to store a biological sample, an imaging cell connected to the pressure vessel, and a waste depository connected to the imaging cell. An input valve controls whether biological sample can flow from the pressure vessel into the imaging cell and an output valve controls whether biological sample can flow from the imaging cell into the waste depository. The parasite analysis system also includes a camera that captures a chronological set of images of a portion of the biological sample in the imaging cell and an image analysis system that analyzes the chronological set of images to generate an estimate of a number of parasites in the portion of the biological sample. Estimates for multiple portions of the biological sample may be generated and sampling techniques used to estimate the number of parasites in the entire biological sample.
