摘要: A hydrogel composition is formed by conveying separate first and second liquid components subject to a selectively applied application pressure P(A) into an outlet path for mixing and discharge. A liquid flushing agent is automatically conveyed into the outlet path subject to a substantially constantly applied purge pressure P(P) when the application of P(A) is interrupted, to continuously flush residual hydrogel composition from the outlet path.

摘要: A kit for forming a biocompatible material provides a protein solution and a polymer solution including a derivative of a hydrophilic polymer with a functionality of at least three. Upon mixing. the protein solution and the polymer solution cross-link to form a non-liquid, three-dimensional network that degrades over time back to a liquid form. The polymer includes a degradation control region selected to achieve a desired degradation period and a cross-linking group selected to achieve a desired cross-linking period. The kit provides instructions for forming a mixture of the protein solution and polymer solution and for applying the mixture. The mixture serves as the foundation for multiple material composition species, each adapted to a specific therapeutic indication.

摘要: A method mixes a first component, a second component, and a buffer material. The first component includes an electrophilic polymer material comprising poly(ethylene glycol) having a functionality of at least three. The second component includes a nucleophilic material comprising a natural or synthetic protein at a concentration of about 25% or less that, when mixed with the first component within a reaction pH range, cross-links with the first component to form a non-liquid, three-dimensional barrier. The buffer material includes tris-hydroxymethylaminomethane having a pH within the reaction pH range. The method applies the mixture to adhere to a tissue region.

摘要: Devices and methods are disclosed for achieving hemostasis at a wound site following an endovascular procedure. Such wound sealing is necessary generally following a percutaneous procedure where a percutaneous cannula is withdrawn from the vasculature leaving an entry site to the vessel that could bleed if steps are not taken to stop said bleeding. The devices and methods disclosed herein are especially useful in the catheterization laboratory following interventional cardiology or interventional neuroradiology procedures. The devices utilize the introduction sheath that was originally used for the procedure as a guide for the closure. The closure device is inserted through the introduction sheath once any therapeutic or diagnostic devices have been removed. The closure device comprises a two-part sealing material housed in a reservoir system, a mixing chamber, a delivery cannula, exit ports, and a vessel location device. The sealing material generally comprises materials such as albumin and polyethylene glycol, or the like. The sealing device works in conjunction with the already placed sheath to eliminate the step of replacing said sheath, an action that increases procedural time and may contribute to further wound damage and reduced sealing effectiveness.

摘要: A nozzle tip assembly comprises a nozzle housing and a break-up insert. The nozzle assembly is adapted for receiving multiple pre-cursor fluids from multiple lumen. The pre-cursor fluids are kept substantially separate and forced around the break-up insert into a channel formed between the insert and the nozzle housing. Fluid is forced into fluted channels on a distal end of the break-up insert into a swirl chamber where mixing occurs prior to being expelled through an exit orifice in the nozzle housing.

摘要: Disclosed are methods, apparatus, and systems useful for detecting leaks in pleural tissue. Also disclosed are methods of detecting and sealing such leaks. Indicator dye or stain is aerosolized and delivered to the lung via anesthetic equipment, oxygen tube, endoscope, or other suitable equipment, the dye is allowed to travel through the lung along the path or paths of least resistance emerging at the surface of the lung, staining the tissue indicative of a leak. Some embodiments include introducing one part of a two part sealant with the dye, and applying the second part of the sealant to the stain identified leak locations.
