摘要: A mask cushion or a mask assembly therewith provides a comfortable and effective seal for provision of a gas therapy by a respiratory treatment apparatus. The mask cushion (102) may be integrated with or coupled to a mask frame. The mask cushion typically includes an inner cushion component (104). The mask cushion also includes a patient facial-contact side portion with a chamber (108) and a barrier (106) to form the chamber that may be flexible. The chamber may serve as an outer layer with respect to the inner cushion component. The chamber may be partially or completely filled with a gas, fluid or gel. The inner cushion may be formed with a soft flexible material such as an elastomer or foam, etc. The barrier may be a membrane and may also be soft flexible material.

摘要: A patient interface for delivering breathable gas to a patient includes a foam interfacing portion adapted to provide a nasal interface to contact under and around the patient's nose in use and including an orifice adapted to surround both the patient's nares in use, and a positioning and stabilizing structure to support the foam interfacing portion in an operative position on the patient's face. The positioning and stabilizing structure is structured to provide a range of rotational, axial, and/or lateral movement to the foam interfacing portion while maintaining a sufficient interface and resisting the application of tube drag and/or headgear tension to the foam interfacing portion.

摘要: A network enabled flow generator includes a continuous source of breathable gas for delivery to airways of a patient, and a process controller processing data relating to operations of the flow generator. A network interface communicates with the process controller and is configured to support a communications protocol. In this manner, patient data can be more easily accessed, and the flow generator can be more easily maintained via access through a network such as the Internet.

摘要: A CPAP device wherein humidification detection and/or control is performed by a microprocessor of the CPAP device without requiring a separate humidification control chip. The microprocessor may also control the flow generator motor and the flow generator display. Further, the microprocessor may include code to prevent ‘brown-out’, and/or to detect the availability (connection and/or operability) of the humidifier. Humidifier detection may be carried out using power consumption or temperature sensor signal analysis, e.g., facilitated by use of a pull-up resistor.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for determining the occurrence of an apnea, patency and/or partial obstruction of the airway are disclosed. Respiratory air flow from a patient is measured to give an air flow signal. The determination of an apnea is performed by calculating the variance of the air flow signal over a moving time window and comparing the variance with a threshold value. One determination of partial obstruction of the airway is performed by detecting the inspiratory part of the air flow signal, scaling it to unity duration and area and calculating an index value of the amplitude of the scaled signal over a mid-portion. Alternatively, the index value is a measure of the flatness of the air flow signal over the mid-portion. One determination of patency of the airway is performed by applying an oscillatory pressure waveform of known frequency to a patient's airway, calculating the magnitude of the component of said air flow signal at the known frequency induced by the oscillatory pressure waveform and comparing the calculated magnitude with a threshold value. Alternatively, the air flow signal is analysed to detect the presence of a component due to cardiogenic activity.

摘要: In a CPAP or positive pressure ventilation system, leak is determined at each instant by a lookback for a time as long as single breath to establish the start of an averaging window over which low-pass filtered values used in the determination of a parameter of a leak model are averaged. A jamming index indicates whether the leak is rapidly changing. To the extent that jamming is high, the leak estimate used progressively changes from that using sliding breath-window averaging to a more robust and faster responding low-pass filter method, and adjustment of ventilatory support based on measures employing estimated respiratory flow is slowed down or stopped.

摘要: An impeller and at least a portion of a cooperating peripheral volute may be integrated into, and preferably are integrally injection molded with, concentric outer rotor and inner stator assemblies, respectively, to achieve a low profile precision impeller mechanism based on an improved brushless d.c. motor with low length (L) to diameter (D) ratio and suitable for use in a variety of other applications. In one practical embodiment of such a motor, a rotating cap has an inner circumference which is molded about an outer ferromagnetic back ring that in turn supports a permanently magnetized ring shaped rotor magnet having a number of poles of alternating polarity defined about its inner circumference and separated by a relatively small cylindrical air gap from the outwardly projecting radially oriented selectively magnetized poles of a fixed stator assembly. In one exemplary embodiment, the rotor may have 8 poles and the stator may have 9 poles. The fixed stator assembly is preferably integrally molded into a base housing that also includes a precision fixed bearing support that extends upwardly through the center of the stator assembly and that is rotatably coupled to a rotating shaft that extends downwardly from (and preferably is integral with) the center of the rotating cap. A coaxial pair of preloaded ball bearings is preferably supported between an inner cylindrical surface of the fixed bearing support and an outer cylindrical surface of the rotating shaft, to thereby permit the rotor to rotate precisely about the stator with minimal variation in the cylindrical air gap therebetween.
