    摘要: A granular moving-bed apparatus is introduced to have an inlet louvered wall, an outlet louvered wall opposing to the inlet louvered wall, a granular path formed in between, a plurality of serial roof-shaped flow-corrective elements located along the granular path, and a predetermined type of granular materials flowing inside the granular path. The inlet louvered wall and the outlet louvered wall are particularly constructed to form serial hopper-shaped structures that define the granular path. The roof-shaped flow-corrective element is systematically displaced with respect to the hopper-shaped structure by specific criteria so that problems of corrosions, plaques and stagnant zones formed to the louvered walls of the apparatus can be avoided.

    摘要: A perforated drum (10) rotates in a coaxial cylindrical housing (18) having three circumferential ports (19,22,23), and an axial outlet (24) at one end. The axis (11) is horizontal. A fibrous filter medium (20) is fed through a port (19) on or near the top of the housing (81) by a distributing mechanism (36) which lays a uniform mat (26) of the desired thickness onto the rotating drum (10). This mat (26) is carried by the drum (10) to a second port (23) through which dirty fluid (13) enters. The fluid (13) passes through the filter (26) and the cleaned stream (16) exits through the open end (15) of the drum (10) and the axial port (24) in the housing (18). The dirty filter material (20) is carried on to a third port (22) near the bottom of the housing (18) and drops into a receiver (31) from which it is continuously removed, cleaned (30), and returned (32) to the charging port (36) at the top. To support the filter mat, the perforated cylinder may carry a series of tines (40), shaped blades (41), or pockets, so that the mat (26) will not fall from the drum (10) prematurely. To minimize risk of mat failure, the fluid inlet port (23) may be located above the horizontal centerline (11).

    摘要: A heat exchanger for installation on the top of a chimney of a building includes a housing having a lower end receiving the top of the chimney and an upper end with openings permitting the escape of effluent from the chimney and a heat exchanger assembly disposed in the housing including a central chamber and a spirally arranged duct network defining an effluent spiral path between the top of the chimney and the central chamber and a fresh air spiral path between an inlet disposed at the lower end of the housing and the central chamber, the effluent and fresh air spiral paths being in heat exchange relationship such that air passing through the fresh air spiral path is heated by hot effluent gases passing upward through the chimney and the effluent spiral path for use in heating the building. A pollution trap can be disposed in the central chamber of the heat exchanger assembly for removing pollutants from the effluent, the pollution trap including a rotating cage carrying pumice stones for absorbing pollutants from the effluent with the surface of the pumice gradually ground off to reveal fresh stone as the cage rotates.

    摘要: Apparatus for separating finely divided solids from gas is described comprising a generally cylindrical vessel having a gas inlet opening and a gas outlet opening, a solids inlet opening at the top of the vessel and a solids outlet opening at the bottom of the vessel. First generally cylindrical wall member having a diameter less than that of the vessel is disposed in the vessel to provide an elongated annular space lying between it and the vessel wall. The first cylindrical wall member is in sealing engagement with the top portion of the vessel. A second generally cylindrical wall member having a diameter less than the first wall member is disposed inside the first wall member to provide an elongated annular space between the two wall members which space is filled with a solid particulate contact material and which moves by gravity flow downwardly through the annular space. The surfaces of both cylindrical wall members are louvered surfaces formed by perforating the walls to form louver vanes inclined to the vertical at an angle of about 15.degree. to 80.degree. and having louver openings sufficiently large that most of the particles constituting the contact mass are capable of passing through the openings. The louver vanes of the first cylindrical wall member extend outwardly and those of the second wall member extend inwardly. Means for controlling the flow of the solid contact material through the louver openings to restrict the flow to a minor proportion of the total contact material and means for facilitating passage of the overflow contact material through a solids outlet opening in the bottom of the vessel are provided.
