摘要: A controller alternately repeats a desorption process of desorbing sulfur compound deposited on an NSR catalyst by supplying fuel from a direct injection valve to exhaust gas, and a pausing process of pausing fuel supply from the injection valve to the exhaust gas. The controller executes a cooling fuel addition for adding engine fuel from the addition valve of the exhaust passage to cool the addition valve during execution of the pausing process, and prohibit the cooling fuel addition during execution of the desorption process. The controller calculates a target temperature of the addition valve at the time of start of the desorption process such that the temperature of the addition valve during execution of the desorption process does not exceed an allowable upper limit temperature and calculates the addition amount at the time of cooling fuel addition.

摘要: An apparatus for purifying an exhaust gas includes an engine, an exhaust pipe, a first lean NOx trap (LNT) adapted to absorb nitrogen oxide (NOx) contained in the exhaust gas, to release the absorbed NOx, and to reduce the NOx contained in the exhaust gas or the released NOx or to generate ammonia (NH3), a second LNT adapted to absorb the NOx, to release the absorbed NOx, and to reduce the NOx contained in the exhaust gas or the released NOx or to generate the NH3, and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst adapted to temporarily absorb the NH3 and to reduce the NOx contained in the exhaust gas, wherein the second LNT is positioned such that an average temperature of the second LNT is lower than that of the first LNT by 50-150° C. based on an average temperature of the exhaust gas.

The particulate filter carries an ash atomization agent. To remove the ash from the particulate filter, ash atomization processing for rendering the state of the particulate filter a state where the exhaust gas which flows into the particulate filter is lowered in concentration of oxygen and the particulate filter is raised in temperature is temporarily performed.

摘要: In cases where at the upstream side of an NOx selective reduction catalyst there is provided another catalyst, sulfur poisoning of both the catalysts is recovered in an appropriate manner. To this end, provision is made for an NH3 generation catalyst arranged in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine for generating NH3, the NOx selective reduction catalyst arranged in the exhaust passage at a location downstream of the NH3 generation catalyst for reducing NOx in a selective manner, an upstream side recovery unit to recover sulfur poisoning of the NH3 generation catalyst, and a downstream side recovery unit to recover sulfur poisoning of the NOx selective reduction catalyst after the sulfur poisoning of the NH3 generation catalyst has been recovered by the upstream side recovery unit.

摘要: A method of removing ash from a wall flow type particulate filter which is arranged in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine in which combustion is performed in an excess of oxygen for trapping particulate matter in exhaust gas, using a solid acid which is carried on the particulate filter, renders the state of the particulate filter a state where the exhaust gas which flows into the particulate filter is lowered in concentration of oxygen and the particulate filter is raised in temperature, and then renders the state of the particulate filter a state where the exhaust gas which flows into the particulate filter in an oxidizing atmosphere contains SOx.

摘要: A method for treating exhaust gas is provided, which includes measuring SO3 concentration in the exhaust gas which contains at least SO2 and SO3 by using an SO3 gas analyzer; injecting fine particles into the exhaust gas after the step of measuring; cooling the exhaust gas after the step of injection, by recovering heat from the exhaust gas; collecting fly ash from the cooled exhaust gas; and removing at least SO2 from the exhaust gas after the step of collecting by absorbing the SO2 with an absorbing solution. In addition, an apparatus for treating exhaust gas is provided, which includes an SO3 gas analyzer; a fine particles injector; a heat exchanger; an electrostatic precipitator; an absorption tower; and a fine particle feed controller.

摘要: The present invention is intended to improve a SOx reduction rate which is a ratio of an amount of SOx reduction with respect to an amount of SOx occlusion in SOx poisoning recovery processing. In the present invention, in the SOx poisoning recovery processing in which the SOx occluded in an NOx storage reduction catalyst is reduced by decreasing the air fuel ratio of an exhaust gas flowing into the NOx storage reduction catalyst to a predetermined air fuel ratio in a repeated manner, the length of a period in which the air fuel ratio of an exhaust gas flowing into the NOx storage reduction catalyst is decreased is made longer in a relatively early time during the processing than in a relatively late time during the processing.

摘要: An S storage catalyst 2 is equipped with a catalytic supporter, a catalytic metal being supported on this catalytic supporter and oxidizing SO2 to SO3, and an S storage material being supported on the catalytic supporter and storing S components therein. This S storage catalyst 2 has an exhaust-gas-inlet-side high-concentration portion 2A in which the S storage material is supported on the catalytic supporter in a high concentration, and an exhaust-gas-outlet-side low-concentration portion 2A in which the S storage material is supported on the catalytic supporter in a low concentration that is lower than that of the high-concentration portion. In accordance with this S storage catalyst 2, it is possible to maintain the S storing performance favorably, even in a case where exhaust-gas temperatures are low, while keeping the material cost from rising steeply.

摘要: In the present exhaust purification system of an internal combustion engine, a particulate filter is arranged downstream of an NOx storage/reduction catalyst device and an S trap device is arranged upstream of the NOx storage/reduction catalyst device. A first fuel supplying device for supplying additional fuel for regeneration of the particulate filter to the exhaust system upstream of the S trap device or into the cylinder is provided. An amount of the additional fuel supplied by the first fuel supplying device is controlled to make the S trap device not release SOx. A second fuel supplying device is provided in the exhaust system between the NOx storage/reduction catalyst device and the particulate filter to make up for a deficiency of the additional fuel supplied by the first fuel supplying device in the regeneration treatment of the particulate filter.
