摘要： A method of making asphalt concrete mixtures including reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP). Variability in the fraction of binder that occurs in RAP that is able to melt and mix with virgin binder included in the concrete mixture previously made it difficult to select an appropriate amount of virgin binder. Methods described herein permit an asphalt concrete mix designer to determine the amount of virgin binder that can be combined with RAP and virgin aggregate in order to satisfy the minimum effective binder content of a job mix formula for such a concrete mix. The subject matter described herein thus permits more efficient use of RAP and permits use of RAP in higher amounts in asphalt concrete mixtures.

摘要： A slurry mixer comprises a container assembly and pressurized air delivery system for mixing gravitationally separable heavy particulate of target slurry. The container assembly essentially comprises an inferior container portion, a superior container portion, a vertical container diameter, and accumulator plates, which plates are spatially located in superior adjacency to the inferior container portion orthogonal to the vertical container diameter. The air delivery system delivers compressed air to a gas outlet cooperable with the accumulator plates for outletting gas into the container assembly. The accumulator plate feature functions to plate-shape the outlet gas into a substantially planar initial bubble shape. The initially planar bubble shape is upwardly directed toward the superior tank portion in radial adjacency to the vertical container diameter. The outlet gas displaces slurry components via dynamic matter-displacing bubble action, and the initially planar bubble shape maximizes the matter-displacing effectiveness of the bubble action for mixing the slurry.

摘要： A modified bitumen composition used in asphalt-coated roads as a binding raw material having petrocoke, a derivative of carbon based crude oil, and extract, a base oil unit by-product, as additives, and to a method of producing the same. The modified bitumen composition of the invention contains at least 55% by weight of bitumen with a penetration in the range of 40 to 110 as per EN 1426 standard, and 1%-40% by weight of petrocoke with a particle size preferably less than 300 micrometers, and 2% to 5% by weight of extract, a base oil unit by-product, as additives. Determination of the amount of the additives petrocoke and extract to be added to the bitumen, optimum values of such parameters as mixing temperature and mixing rate to distribute in the bitumen homogenously and the conditions at which the modified bitumen may be stored and/or transported without losing its improved properties.

摘要： A method of making hot mix asphalt using recycled asphalt in which tertiary air is mixed with products of combustion at an exit of a refractory-lined chamber to produce hot controlled temperature process air, the temperature of the tertiary air being increased while the temperature of the products of combustion is decreased to adjust a temperature of the hot controlled temperature process air. Particles of the recycled asphalt are heated by exposing the particles to the hot controlled temperature process air in the rotary counter-flow dryer and mixer and moisture is removed from the recycled asphalt with the hot controlled temperature process air.

The mixing drum can include a body that forms an internal cavity and can have a forward end and a bottom end. The mixing drum can also include a mouth at the forward end of the body that provides access to the internal cavity of the mixing drum. The mobile mixing device can include a heater support arm having a heater secured to an end of the heater support arm that is distal from the mixing drum. The mixing drum can be used to process cement material when the heater support arm is in a stow-away position or asphalt when the heater support arm is in a heating position with the heater facing into the mouth of the mixing drum.

摘要： The present invention relates to systems and methods for mixing various components of asphalt concrete in a mixer and then dispensing the asphalt concrete from the mixer. While the mixer can include any suitable component, in some instances, it includes a heated container, a mixing mechanism that is configured to mix asphalt and an aggregate to form the asphalt concrete within the heated container, and an auger that is configured to force the asphalt concrete out from the heated container. In some cases, a portion of the auger is disposed in a heated cover. In some cases, the cover further comprises a gate that is configured to open (and close) to allow the asphalt concrete to flow from (and be retained in) the heated container. Other implementations are also described.
