Abstract: The long strand fiberglass-impregnated waterproofing compound may provide a pre-mixed waterproofing compound that eliminates the need for a worker to combine the various elements prior to application. The compound may benefit from the use of long strand fiberglass so as to provide additional strength and resiliency to the compound and may be provided in a container suitable for preventing the compound from drying out before it is applied. The advantages of such a compound include creating a seamless waterproof seal on a surface, as well as adding structural rigidity and strength to the surface, while reducing the amount of time needed to apply the compound. The compound comprises, generally, a waterproofing material combined with a structural lattice in a portable container.

Abstract: A method involving either: determining a first amount of asphalt emulsion required to generate a mixture for roadway material so that the roadway material will exhibit a predetermined strength; or adding a first amount of asphalt emulsion to a road base material to generate a mixture for roadway material and determining a strength of the mixture. The method involves determining an amount of maltene compounds to be mixed with a second amount of asphalt emulsion so that a mixture of the second amount of asphalt emulsion and the amount of maltene compounds used to generate roadway material will exhibit the predetermined strength or the strength, the second amount of asphalt emulsion being less than the first amount of asphalt emulsion. The method involves generating a mixture including the second amount of asphalt emulsion, the amount of maltene compounds, and the road base material.

Abstract: An environmentally-friendly substitute for virgin dry cement is provided. The substitute is obtained as reclaimed cementitious fines produced by recycling cement-containing waste materials, such as recycled concrete aggregate and demolished brick structures. The reclaimed cementitious fines are used as cementitious material in new concrete, mortar, cement paste and other cement-containing materials and structures. A recycling method involves obtaining cement-containing waste material, crushing the cement-containing waste material, gathering the crushed cement-containing waste materials, the crushed cement-containing waste materials comprising reclaimed particles derived from said cement-containing waste material; and sorting the crushed cement-containing waste materials by particle size to obtain reclaimed cementitious fines having sizes in a desired particle size range, e.g., 0.1 micron to 200 micron for use as a substitute for virgin dry cement powder. Notably, the crushing/tumbling methodologies used to obtain the reclaimed particles produce significantly less carbon dioxide that the methodologies used to obtain virgin dry cement.

Abstract: Embodiments may include a coated granule for roofing systems. The coated granule may include an aluminum silicate granule and a coating disposed on the aluminum silicate granule. The coating may include a copolymer and a siloxane-based or a silane-based compound. The copolymer may be a cationic fluorinated (meth)acrylic copolymer. The aluminum silicate granule may have a particle size in a range from 0.2 mm to 2.4 mm. The aluminum silicate granule may have a 65% or greater reflectivity. The coated granule may repel oil and maintain its reflectivity better than with other techniques.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a homopolymer, copolymer, block copolymer, and statistical copolymer comprising plural polyol monomeric units. The polyol monomeric units being acrylated and acylated or acetalized. The acrylated and acylated or acetalized polyol monomeric units have an average degree of acrylation which is 1 or more, but less than the number of the hydroxyl groups of the polyol and have an average degree of acylation or acetalization which is 1 or more, but less than the number of the hydroxyl groups of the polyol. The present invention also relates to a method of making the homopolymers, copolymers, block copolymers, and statistical copolymers, and using them in various applications, such as asphalt rubber modifiers, adhesives, or an additive in a fracking fluid for oil fracking.

Abstract: In a method for renovating a roadway, a first tack coat including a bitumen emulsion, a second coat of fibres and then a third surface coat that is a “clean” bitumen emulsion or includes an anhydrous asphalt binder, is spread by a spreading machine from bottom to top and overlaid on the milled or planed roadway. The fibres are sprayed onto the tack coat and the sprayed fibres having a maximum length of 12 cm, an asphalt mix being subsequently spread over the surface coat, the residual binder of the “clean” bitumen emulsion having a penetrability of less than 40 dmm and a ball-ring temperature greater than 50° C., the ‘clean’ bitumen emulsion including between 30% and 70% bitumen, between 30% and 70% water, and between 0.1% and 10% surfactants, stabilisers and/or additives, the percentages being by weight. The application also relates to a spreading machine.
