摘要: A robotic welding system comprises a supporting arm for attaching to a repositionable support structure, the supporting arm comprising a first mounting portion connectable to the repositionable support structure, and a second mounting portion rotatably coupled to the first mounting portion. A yaw rotary actuator rotates the second mounting portion about a yaw axis. A welding arm comprises a third mounting portion rotatably coupled to the second mounting portion of the supporting arm. A pitch rotary actuator rotates the third mounting portion about a pitch axis generally perpendicular to the yaw axis. A roll rotary actuator rotates a torch holder shaft about a roll axis generally perpendicular to the pitch axis. The shaft has a torch mounting portion for mounting a welding torch at an end thereof. A controller is operably coupled to the actuators to cause the welding torch to execute a welding pattern.

摘要: In a method of applying a weld to a target surface, a guide rail arrangement is attached to the target, the guide rail arrangement including at least one guide rail. A weld head carriage having a carriage housing, a rail follower assembly, and a sonotrode is movably mounted to the guide rail arrangement so that the follower assembly engages each guide rail for movement there-along. The weld head carriage is positioned adjacent the target surface, feedstock material is deposited onto the target surface, and the sonotrode is extended to engage the deposited feedstock material and apply a welding force to the feedstock material and the target. Relative movement between the carriage and the guide rail arrangement is initiated and ultrasonic vibrations are conducted into the feedstock material and the target, thereby welding the feedstock material to the target surface.

摘要: An apparatus (100) for cutting workpieces comprises a clamping mechanism (2) adapted to be fastened to said workpiece (1) rotatably therearound. The clamping mechanism (2) comprises a frame element (5) and first and second arms (6, 7) extending therefrom. The arms (6, 7) are coupled at one end to the frame element (5) of the clamping mechanism (2) and each arm (6, 7) has its free end fitted with a contacting member (15, 16, 31, 32) configured to contact the surface of the workpiece. The apparatus comprises also two movable guiding members (28, 29) to which said arms (6, 7) are coupled so that when said guiding members (28, 29) are moved away from each other, the contacting member (15, 16, 31, 32) of the arms (6, 7) are configured to be moved away from each other and vice versa. The apparatus comprises also at least two supporting bars (50, 51) elongated through said guiding members (28, 29). The first supporting bar (50) comprises a first threaded portion (52) with a first coupling means (21), and the second supporting bar (51) comprising a second threaded portion (53) with a second coupling means (22). The first arm (6) and the first coupling means (21) are functionally coupled to each other by a first suspension arm (24), and the second arm (7) and the second coupling means (22) are functionally coupled to each other by a second suspension arm (25). The supporting bars are configured to be rotated at the same time.

摘要: A method of fabrication by friction stir welding (FSW) at an interface between adjoining components such as pipe lengths of a pipeline has layers of different metals on each side. FSW is performed from one side of the adjoining components by effecting relative movement of a first FSW tool along the interface. FSW is performed from an opposite side of the adjoining components by effecting relative movement of a second FSW tool along the interface. Advantageously, FSW is performed simultaneously from both sides of the adjoining components with the FSW tools applying loads in mutual opposition about the adjoining components.

A near-weld purge rig which has a near-weld purge gas channel and which achieves a low oxygen concentration proximate to a pipe gap for welding. The gas used for purging is also directed against an interior surface of the pipe to be welded. The directed gas cools the pipe to a desired temperature.

The frame is configured to be placed within the pipes. The plurality of rollers is configured to rotatably support the frame. The drive motor drives the rollers to move the frame within the pipes. The brake system secures the frame from movement at a desired location within the pipes. The weld torch, the inspection detector and the one or more battery cells are carried by the frame. The inspection detector is configured to detect a characteristic of an interface region between the pipes. The one or more battery cells are configured to power the drive motor, the inspection detector and the weld torch.

摘要: A mobile welding system that does not rely exclusively on a track to define the path of the welder. The present invention generally provides a mobile welder adapted to move along a work piece, the mobile welder including a chassis supporting a motor assembly; a travel assembly attached to the chassis and adapted to support the chassis over a portion of the work piece, wherein the motor is coupled to the travel assembly to selectively cause the chassis to move relative to the work piece; a controller connected to the motor assembly to control movement of the chassis relative to the work piece; a chassis holder connected to the chassis, the chassis holder being adapted to provide a force holding the chassis a selected distance from the work piece; and a welder supported on the chassis, the welder including an implement adapted to perform a welding operation, wherein the implement is supported on the chassis at a location where the implement and the chassis define an uninterrupted line of sight from the implement to the work piece, wherein the chassis holder is spaced from the line of sight a distance sufficient to prevent the chassis holder from interfering with the welding operation.
