摘要: A pair of tension cables are positioned around cams attached to the lower control arms of a vehicle suspension. Each tension cable includes a tension damper responsive to tension in the tension cables. Each tension damper includes a cylinder containing a fluid and a piston including at least one orifice attached to a rod. The piston divides the cylinder into a first and second compartment. The rod in connected to the tension cable. When the tension cable pulls on one end of the rod, the piston is pulled towards the tension cable. The fluid creates resistance in the tension damper as the fluid moves through the orifice from one compartment to the other compartment, damping vehicle roll. Control of the tension dampers can be passive, semi-active, or active.

摘要: A stabilization member usable for coupling first and second pivotal suspension components in a vehicle suspension stabilization system. The stabilization member includes first and second tension members each having a substantially U-shaped closed first end portion linked together to form a cavity for retaining a resilient dampening member, and a second end portion coupleable to one of the first and second pivotal suspension components, whereby tension on the first and second tension members is at least partially absorbable by compression of the resilient dampening member. In one embodiment, the substantially U-shaped closed first end portions of the first and second tension members is a strap material, which are oriented substantially perpendicular to form the link, and the resilient dampening member is a thermoset urethane material, which may be pre-compressed to permit adjustably tuning the suspension stabilization system. The stabilization members provide improved suspension performance, decreased weight and cost, among other advantages.

摘要: A vehicle comprising a sprung mass and unsprung masses, front and rear suspensions coupling said sprung mass through said unsprung masses so that said unsprung masses can move independently in a vertical direction with respect to said sprung mass. Each of said suspensions comprising a resilient element and levers, the ends of which are hingedly connected to an unsprung mass while their other ends are connected to said sprung mass. A unit for said resilient elements is arranged on said sprung mass; and a plurality of flexible elements, each coupling said unit for said resilient elements with an unsprung mass. The flexible elements are under tension in the entire range of the vertical movement of an unsprung mass with respect to said sprung mass due to pretightening of the resilient elements.

摘要: A balance suspension system for three-wheel vehicles wherein such system is applicable in particular to the oppositely-reciprocating related wheels of the vehicle. The system is designed such that the vehicle tends to maintain an essentially horizontal position, relative to its transverse axis, even though wheels may pass over bumps or dips or the vehicle itself may be traversing sloping terrain. Structure is provided such that a vertical movement in one of the oppositely-reciprocating wheels is offset by an opposite movement in the remaining wheel whereby the transverse axis of the vehicle is essentially maintained on a horizontal axis. Such precludes the vehicle from dipping or spilling. Further provision is made so that, as the vehicle is cornering, the transverse orientation of the vehicle dips inwardly, tending to oppose centrifugal force and thereby maintain the integrity of vehicle travel. Power balancing is also supplied.
