Embodiments of the present invention include a power source of a vehicle that can be utilized to transfer energy through a track circuit to a device coupled thereto. The track circuit can include a section of track having a first pair of insulated joints located on a first rail and a second pair of insulated joints on a second rail, each pair separated by a distance. Moreover, a signal can be communicated to the vehicle based on receipt of the transferred energy.

    摘要: A power supply and control system for electrically powered shuttle-trains incorporates at least one shuttle train having a motor and a generator. A first plurality of track segments has associated synchronous power modules exchanging power synchronously with a power grid through a plurality of power supply rail segments connectable to the motor or generator. A second plurality of track segments has associated variable frequency power modules exchanging power through a second plurality of power supply rail segments connectable to the motor or generator. Isolation segments separate adjacent power supply rail segments. A control system interconnected to the variable frequency power modules controls the frequency of each variable frequency power module based on the location of the shuttle train.

    摘要: A control assembly includes a monitoring module and a switching module. The monitoring module determines a load demand of a first rail vehicle traveling along a track, wherein the first rail vehicle is supplied with electric current from a plurality of power sources over a conductive pathway extending along the track. The switching module is communicatively coupled with the monitoring module and is joined with a switch controller disposed between the power sources and the conductive pathway. The switching module directs the switch controller to change which of the power sources supply the electric current to the first rail vehicle over the conductive pathway based on the load demand.

    摘要: This method for deicing a direct current power supply line for railway vehicles is provided for a line extending between at least a first and a second reversible substations able to supply an electrical current circulating on the electrical power supply line, the first substation being controlled in a current supply mode, to supply an electrical current to the electrical power supply line and the second substation being controlled in a current recovery mode, to recover the electrical current from the electrical power supply line and send it back on an electrical power supply network. The method comprises establishing a voltage difference between the output terminals of the first and second substations such that a current circulates on the electrical power supply line between the two substations and that the heat produced by the circulation of the current causes the deicing of the power supply line between the two substations.

    摘要: A trackside power distribution apparatus includes overlapping feeders. A first signal supply unit has an input adapted to receive power from a first electrical power source and an output for supply of power to a feeder. A first portion of feeder is connected to the output of the first signal supply unit and extends alongside a track to a unit requiring power. A second signal supply unit has an input adapted to receive power from a second electrical power source and an output for supply of power to a feeder. A second portion of feeder is connected to the output of the second signal supply unit and extends alongside the track to the unit requiring power. A selection apparatus is also provided which selects which feeder portion is used to supply power to the unit. The provision of the two feeder portions improves the reliability of the apparatus in the event that one power source fails.
