摘要： A valve for discharging a fluid, comprising: a valve body at least partially defining a fluid chamber; and a valve stem extending into the fluid chamber, the valve stem comprising an outlet port for transfer, in use, of fluid from the fluid chamber into the valve stem; the valve stem being slidably movable relative to the valve body from: i) a non-dispensing position in which the outlet port is out of communication with the fluid chamber; to ii) a dispensing position in which the outlet port is in fluid communication with the fluid chamber so as to permit transfer of the fluid from the fluid chamber into the valve stem; wherein the valve further comprises a locking member which is configured to prevent return of the valve stem into the non-dispensing position once the valve stem slides beyond a locking position.

摘要： A form-fill-seal machine is capable of reducing poor sealing caused by a packaged article catching in lateral seal portions. The form-fill-seal machine is provided with an upper tube, a lower tube disposed therebelow, a former, a lateral sealing mechanism below the lower tube, and opening and closing sliding members. A packaged article is dropped through the interiors of the upper tube and the lower tube. The former winds a sheet of a film F around the circumference of the lower tube to convert same into a tubular film. The lateral sealing mechanism laterally seals the tubular film. The opening and closing sliding members, which are disposed between the upper tube and the lower tube, shut off an upwardly oriented flow of gas from the interior of the lower tube when in a closed state.

摘要： A process for forming a pouch having an evacuated headspace containing a flowable material is disclosed. The process includes the steps of: providing a continuous tube of flexible and sealable film; supplying the continuous tube with a predetermined amount of flowable material; pinching the continuous tube above a sealing region so as to form a pinched portion of the continuous tube; evacuating the headspace between the pinched portion and the predetermined amount of flowable material; and sealing the continuous tube at the sealing region to form a top seal of a previously formed pouch containing flowable material and a bottom seal of a next-to-be filled pouch. Also disclosed is a vertical form-fill-seal apparatus for forming a pouch containing a flowable material and having an evacuated headspace.

摘要： A packaged food article, comprising a package maintaining at least a partial vacuum and having at least a portion being flexible; and at least one food piece disposed therein in the form of a shaped solid composite mass comprising an aggregate base having a quantity of food particles, wherein at least a portion of the food piece is in conforming contact with the flexible package portion and wherein the food piece has a water activity of 0.45 or less is disclosed. In one embodiment the packaged food article further comprises binder. In most embodiments, the binder comprises 25% or less, by weight, of the product, resulting in a product that is less sweet than other grain-based handheld food products, yet retains a chewy texture. In another embodiment, highly oxygen sensitive ingredients are used as a food ingredient. The resulting product has a very long shelf life, maintaining its full color, texture and flavor for at least 3 months, up to about 12 months. Additionally, most of the frangible ingredients remain whole and there is minimal, if any, waste during manufacturing as no trimming is required.

A second prime mover driving a second output linkage moves the cross seals. The first and second prime movers are independent of each other and as such the side seals can be operated independently of the cross seal. Because the cross seal is independent of the side seals, pouches of any desired length can be formed, filled and sealed on the pouch packaging machine.

摘要： Gas flushing is effected by introducing the gas through one or more ducts into a free portion of the vertical package forming, filling and sealing tube above the area to which packaging sheet material is fed onto and tubularly formed about the tube. At least one of the ducts communicates with an extension duct nozzle depending within the tube for releasing and distributing flushing gas onto the product delivered through the tube into the form packaging bags. Pre-purging gas may be introduced into the tube upstream from the flusihing gas. Gas sampling and machine startup pre-flushing may be effected through a duct having a combination inlet and outlet located to extend partially downwardly into the bag to be filled or which may have been last filled when the machine is restarted after a shut-down.
