摘要: An EPDM composition, which comprises 100 parts by weight of EPDM having an ethylene content of 50-58 wt. %, and a Mooney viscosity ML1+4 (100° C.) of 10-48, and 0.2-4.0 parts by weight of an organic peroxide as a cross-linking agent, has a distinguished blister resistance in a mixed state of chlorofluorocarbon gas/refrigerator oil, which has been a problem in practical use, and a distinguished moldability, as a rubber material for molding sealing materials for chlorofluorocarbon refrigerant including R134a. Sealing materials made from the EPDM composition by vulcanization-molding can provide EPDM-made sealing materials having less permeation leakage amount of chlorofluorocarbon refrigerant than that of hydrogenated NBR so far used as sealing materials in shaft sealing devices in compressors of automobile air conditioners.

摘要: This invention describes a composition of matter having moisture gettering properties and applicable as coating or adhesive in a hermetic microelectronic device. The composition is applied to the interior surface of the packaging at a thickness of 0.1-25 mil and comprises a desiccant finely dispersed in a binder which is a water vapor permeable solid material. This may be a polymer, porous ceramic or glass. The desiccant is a particulate solid with 0.2-100 micrometer average particle size. It ought to be able to absorb from a one atmosphere pressure gas containing one volume percent water vapor at least four parts by weight of water vapor per 100 parts by weight of desiccant at 25.degree. C., and for high reliability devices, it should also be able to absorb at least two parts by weight of water vapor per 100 parts by weight of desiccant at 100.degree. C. The desiccant to binder volume ratio ought to be between 0.002 and 2. Molecular sieves are especially useful as the desiccant component of the composition of this invention.

摘要: A fireproof, compressible, intumescent, elastomeric material useful to seal expansion joints, curtain wall gaps and penetrations in floors and walls in order to prevent the passage of flame and smoke. A seal of the material retains strength before and after exposure to fire and provides superior resistance to the impact, erosion, and cooling effects of a hose stream used to combat a fire. The composition of this compressible, fireproof material consists of elastomers, vulcanizing agents, fillers, softening agents, and an intumescent. This fireproof material may be in cellular or noncellular form with various degrees of compressibility and softness. It can be produced in sheets, molded parts, and continuous length strips. It may be vulcanized or nonvulcanized.
