摘要: Shape memory yarns described herein include twisted microfilaments made from a shape memory alloy that may provide superelastic or shape memory properties. The shape memory yarns are formed into coils that provide a high degree of actuation or elasticity along an axis of the coiled shape memory yarn, and may have relatively low porosity, low rigidity, and/or low change of volume compared to shape memory coils formed from solid structures. Coiled shape memory yarns may provide further tailorability of a superelastic or shape memory response of a system or device incorporating the coiled shape memory yarns through various coil parameters, such as coil pitch or density, or torque balancing, such as heat treating or plying the coiled shape memory yarns.

摘要: A non-coated air bag fabric according to the present invention includes a plurality of weft yarns and a plurality of warp yarns, in which the weft yarns and the warp yarns are constituted by multifilament yarns in which polyethylene terephthalate fibers are used, the number of filaments in each of the multifilament yarns ranges from 122 to 242, and a coefficient of kinetic friction of a surface of the fabric ranges from 1.15 to 1.25 or less, the coefficient of kinetic friction being calculated when a friction block in which polyvinyl chloride is used is brought into contact with the fabric placed on a stage that is rotating at a rotation speed of 663 rpm, at a load of 5 N, using a torque type friction and wear tester.

摘要: A sound absorbing device includes an acoustic resonator with an opening and at least one fabric layer extending across the opening. The at least one fabric layer includes reversible actuatable liquid crystal elastomer (LCE) fibers such that an average pore size of the at least one fabric layer increases with decreasing temperature and decreases with increasing temperature. The sound absorbing device also includes at least one of a heater configured to heat the at least one fabric layer such that the average pore size of the at least one fabric decreases and a cooler configured to cool the at least one fabric layer such that the average pore size of the at least one fabric increases. And in some variations a controller configured to command the heater to heat to the at least one fabric layer and command the cooler to cool the at least one fabric layer is included.

摘要: A carbon dioxide blocking system is provided comprising a sheeting material treated with a waterproofing agent such that the carbon dioxide blocking system is fully, or nearly fully, impermeable to liquids and gases. The sheeting material may be a microfiber polyester woven sheeting material and the waterproofing agent may be thermoplastic polyurethane. The sheeting material is treated with the waterproofing agent. The treated material comprises a single layer of fabric. The sheeting material provides a soft upper surface, like a sheet, while the waterproofing agent imparts impermeability to the sheeting material such that the carbon dioxide blocking system may serve as a mattress protector to block liquids and also to block the permeability and retention of carbon dioxide to help prevent carbon dioxide rebreathing.
