摘要: A method for producing a roadway structure includes: applying pellets of an adhesive composition to a non-tacky surface of a substrate having a support structure, wherein the adhesive composition has at least one solid epoxy resin and at least one thermoplastic polymer that is solid at room temperature; and applying a bitumen-based bearing course. The method permits rapid and efficient production of a roadway structure with good adhesion between the substrate and the asphalt and is suitable in particular for the restoration of asphalt coverings, which must be carried out under time pressure. The application of primer courses is not required.

摘要: A void reducing asphalt membrane composition for asphalt pavements that includes: an asphalt binder; an elastomeric polymer; a wax modifier; and at least one of: i) fumed silica or fumed alumina; and ii) a saponified fatty acid and a resin acid gelling compound. The composition is resistant to flow when applied and migrates into hot mix asphalt in the area of the longitudinal joint to reduce air voids to 7% or less and reduce water permeability. The composition becomes tack-free quickly after application. The composition bonds to asphalt, concrete, brick, stone and metal.

摘要: A multilayered structure comprising a base support, an unvulcanized elastomeric membrane at least 0.05 inch thick overcoated with an exposed cover layer. This structure is useful in roadway construction with particular application to bridge decks where vibration tends to accelerate crack formation allowing water to penetrate the roadbed where it freezes and thaws resulting in structural damage to conventional roadways. The membrane prevents water from penetrating the roadbed. As a bridge deck the base support is normally Portland cement concrete, the intermediate layer is the elastomeric membrane and the exposed cover layer is asphaltic concrete.

摘要: A machine for resurface existing roads is disclosed. The machine may include a first group of sprayers configured to form a first layer of binding material, and a fiber material distribution component positioned adjacent the first group of sprayers. The fiber material distribution component may be configured to distribute fiber material onto the first layer of the binding material. The machine may also include a second group of sprayers positioned adjacent the fiber material distribution component. The second group of sprayers may be configured to form a second layer of the binding material over the distributed fiber material. Additionally, the machine may include a channel positioned adjacent the second group of sprayers. The channel may be configured to supply an asphalt mixture over the second layer of the binding material. Further, the machine may include a screed positioned adjacent the conduit, where the screed may be positioned to contact the asphalt mixture.

摘要: A water-permeable woven geotextile fabric for providing soil reinforcement and/or stabilization, for example as an underlayment in road construction, utilizes a series of round warp fibers, in combination with a series of flat warp fibers, across the width of the fabric to increase water flow while still providing desired filtration. In particular, the round warp fibers form angles that allow greater amounts of water to pass through the fabric. In addition, using both round and flat warp fibers results in increased roughness of the fabric surface, which makes the fabric more resistant to being pulled out of the soil when pulled on. Furthermore, one or more of the round and/or flat warp fibers can include a color selected for high visibility to the human eye in daylight conditions.
