A device, for supplying fuel in the correct and desired quantity to an internal combustion engine employing spark ignition, compensates for the variation in volumetric efficiency of the engine with engine speed. The device comprises a fuel injection pump of variable delivery and with independent outlets equal in number to the cylinders of the engine to be supplied. The pump is driven from the engine through drive means of the device which includes mechanicallyoperating means for sensing variations in the engine speed and for adjusting the pump delivery in dependence on the speed. The pump outlets may supply injectors which inject into either the inlet passages or ports of the individual engine cylinders, or directly into the cylinder combustion spaces.

A fuel injection device for internal combustion engines has a fuel distributor device with at least one pipe connector in whose receptacle an injection valve is inserted by its inflow-side, upstream end. A connecting element serves for fixing the injection valve in position axially on the pipe connector of the fuel distributor device and also for fixing it in the circumferential direction. The connecting element, which is constructed as a plastic clip, includes a disc-shaped, circular ring-shaped base element with an inner opening through which the inflow-side end of the injection valve runs in the installed state, the disc-shaped base body being positioned in a circumferential groove of the injection valve. The base element includes two legs which can be closed or opened by means of a locking connection. Locking elements extend perpendicularly to the plane of the base element and ensure that the injection valve is fixed in position axially on the pipe connector, and fixed in the circumferential direction, by virtue of a fixing lug which engages around and behind, respectively.

A fuel injection pump comprises a rotor disposed in a housing and having a pressure chamber therein, a free piston disposed slidably in the pressure chamber dividing the chamber two pump chambers, two solenoid valves for controlling fuel supply, and two preparatory chambers for metering fuel to be fed to the pump chambers. The preparatory chambers and the solenoid valves are arranged in the same plane crossing the axis of the rotor to align with each other. Fuel from a feed pump transfers to the preparatory chamber through the solenoid valve and is metered there. The metered fuel is fed to the pump chamber, pressurized there and delivered to the engine.

A unitized fuel supply assembly is disclosed including an in-line reciprocating cam driven pump (14) for supplying fuel to an accumulator (12) from which fuel is directed to a plurality of engine cylinders by means of a distributor (16) mounted on the unitized assembly. Dual pump control valves (20) provide fail safe electronic control over the effective pump displacement. One or more injection control valves mounted on the distributor are provided to control injection timing and quantity. The accumulator (12) contains a labyrinth of interconnected chambers (36) which are shaped and positioned to produce a minimum overall package size while providing for easy manufacture.
