A signal for beginning an injection cycle is given by an electric pulse generator (40) or a control camshaft (61) of the control device (31). A return piston (34) of the control device (31) is acted on by fuel pressure and is connected through a line (33) with a pump chamber (6) of the fuel injector (3). At the end of the injection cycle the control edge (12) opens a passage (14) to pressure in the pump chamber (6 ) and a pressure surge acts through the line (33) on the return piston (34).

    摘要: A plunger pump wherein the plunger is reciprocable in a barrel by a tappet which is coupled to the plunger by a pressure member. The tappet is reciprocable by a rotary cam in conjunction with a coil spring and is movable axially of the plunger by a first drive having a sleeve surrounding the barrel and having jaws in engagement with complementary jaws of the pressure member. Rotation of the pressure member in response to rotation of the sleeve entails axial movement of the tappet because the latter has threads in mesh with complementary threads of the pressure member whereby the tappet changes the length of forward and return strokes of the plunger. The latter has a control edge which can regulate the volume of outflowing liquid in response to rotation of the plunger on actuation of a second drive having a second rotary sleeve with jaws engaging complementary jaws of the plunger.

    摘要: The fuel injection quantity of a fuel injection apparatus provided with a fuel injection pump is electrically regulated by means of the opening duration of a metering valve. Additionally, a shift in the instant of supply onset controlled in accordance with operating characteristics is attained by means of a change in the return-flow fuel quantity, which is diverted into a refill reservoir and then refilled completely into the pump work chamber by the beginning of the next subsequent injection stroke. Serving as the sole connection between the refill reservoir and a pump work chamber is an overflow conduit, the overflow opening of which, located at the discharge location into the pump work chamber, is opened by two control locations on the pump piston at the end of supply and once again shortly before bottom dead center. The two control locations are embodied by an oblique control edge on the pump piston that determines the end of supply and by a horizontal, end-face control edge, with the horizontal control edge assuring that shortly before bottom dead center any remnant quantity of the return-flow fuel still remaining in the refill reservoir is refilled back into the pump work chamber.

    摘要: In a fuel control system for a fuel injected internal combustion engine, fuel is pumped from a tank by a cheek plate unloading pump to the fuel rail which supplies the fuel injectors. The delivery pressure of the pump is controlled by a microprocessor which receives inputs from a number of sensors of engine operating variables. The microprocessor generates a control signal which controls the pump output pressure by actuating a solenoid-type linear actuator. The solenoid has an actuator rod which positions a spool in a control valve which regulates the pressure in a cavity behind the cheek plate in response to the control signal. If there is no control signal from the microprocessor, a spring moves the actuator rod to a position where it partially obstructs a passage through which the pump output flows. The partial obstruction or constriction creates a pressure drop which is proportional to the speed at which the pump is driven by the engine. The pressure drop is then used to position the spool of the control valve.
